It is initiatives like this one that remind us why we do what we do. International collaborations and attentive local contextualization are key to inspire and facilitate lasting positive change. With gratitude to our trusted partners at UNODC , and with excitement for Team Libertech for winning the hackathon, we congratulate all participants of this competitive and important event. The Knowledge Foundation is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this impactful example of the power of leveraging technology, youth empowerment and meaningful collaborations. Winners of this hackathon were rewarded with, among other things, Knowledge Tokens to be redeemed within the framework of future Knowledge Foundation activities in Mozambique, to be designed with the local ecosystem. We are looking forward to be back in Maputo for new innovative ways to help nurture and strengthen the next generation of mozambican changemakers, software developers and social entrepreneurs. Yesterday, we witnessed an emotional and inspiring moment as young talents pitched their digital solutions to combat trafficking in persons in Mozambique. I’m truly proud to be part of the team behind the Hackathon on Trafficking in Persons, organized by UNODC, Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, and the Knowledge Foundation. The journey began with a one-week bootcamp that equipped our 8 teams with knowledge on trafficking in persons, cybercrime, tech for good, and business development. It all culminated in an intense 48-hour hackathon, where these young people showed remarkable motivation, creativity, and commitment from start to finish. It has been deeply inspiring to witness the impact of this project and the innovative spirit these young adults brought to addressing such an important issue. A huge thank you to the amazing organizing team: my dear colleagues Anna, Camilla, Daya, Shelsea, and Marie-Line, as well as Antonio, whose leadership and support made this initiative possible; to our fantastic partners from the Knowledge Foundation, Aaron, Yane, and Leonardo; and to the incredible organizing team from the Faculty of Sciences of the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane! A special shout-out to our wonderful Team Lovelace: Agape, Amanda, Keabetswe, and Mbofho, and to our great jury members for sharing their expertise! Finally, to our incredible participants: thank you for your dedication and passion, and congratulations to the winning team, Libertech 💙 Please continue this vital work of developing solutions to address the challenges facing Mozambique. You are proving that innovation can drive real change. #HackathonTráficoDePessoas
