🚨 URGENT: MANY PEOPLE REMAIN IN GRAVE DANGER IN #ELFASHER 🚨 ❗ We denounce the indiscriminate and ethnically-targeted mass atrocities and killings that have culminated this week in and around #ElFasher, Sudan. We fear that large numbers of people are being prevented by the Rapid Support Forces (#RSF) and its allies from reaching safer areas, such as #Tawila where we work. 👁️🗨️ Several eyewitnesses told horrific stories to our staff. People being executed or captured and held for ransom by the #RSF when trying to flee El Fasher. Fighters crushing several prisoners with their vehicles. People subjected to torture or victim of sexual violence. 🏥 In Tawila, our teams set up a #health post at the entrance of the city and scaled up the #emergency care, surgical care and other medical services provided at the hospital. The main injuries of the patients we treat are gunshot wounds, fractures or other consequences of beatings and #torture. Many people suffer from acute #malnutrition, in particular children. 📣 We urgently call on the RSF and its allies to spare #civilians and allow them to reach safety. We also urge all diplomatic stakeholders, including US, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Egypt to use their leverage to stop the #bloodbath. #Sudan #ElFasher #TalkAboutSudan #SudanCannotWait #Darfur

In the past ten days, only few thousands people have managed to reach #Tawila, far fewer than the 250,000 civilians estimated to be in #ElFasher until last month. Reports from those who fled, as well as credible sources, indicate mass killings, indiscriminate violence, and ethnic targeting inside the city and on the roads to escape it.
