Last Monday, the Quantum Engineering Commission organized a visit to the PSI Paul Scherrer Institut, giving students a first-hand look at one of Europe’s leading research centers in physics and engineering. During the visit, participants got to see where cutting-edge quantum research meets real-world technology. It was inspiring to witness so much curiosity and engagement: students asked thoughtful questions, exchanged ideas with PSI researchers, and gained valuable insight into the path from quantum engineering studies to active research. We’d like to express our sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Wenchao Xu, Dr. Cornelius Hempel, Dr. Alexander Grimm, Prof. Dr. Andreas Wallraff, Dr. Jean-Claude Besse, Dr. Marek Pechal, and the PSI teams for opening their labs and sharing their expertise, to all the students who joined with enthusiasm and curiosity, and to Ananya Nandini Amitabh and Senlin Yue for their work in organizing this visit. Special thanks to Quantum Center, ETH Zurich for making this visit possible and supporting hands-on learning opportunities for the next generation of quantum engineers and physicists. #QuantumEngineering #PSI #QuantumTechnology

The QEC connects and fosters the Quantum Engineering Community at ETH Zürich.
Info
The Quantum Engineering Commission (QEC) is the student association of the Quantum Engineering Master Programme at ETH Zürich. It was founded in February 2020 by the first “batch” of QE students and has grown since. Today it accommodates ETH students with various backgrounds and is key to the students-driven Quantum Engineering Community at ETH Zürich. Goals are: - Engaging students with the field of Quantum Engineering through technical events such as the Quantum Paper Club and events with the industry. - Supporting students in their studies by organizing oral exam simulations and providing a study guide and a mentor-mentee program. - Improving the cohesion inside the Quantum Engineering Master program by organizing social events. Our football team represents us in the ASVZ tournament, we go running and climbing weekly. Events are organized to keep people in touch (even during the COVID-19 pandemic). The quantum community in Switzerland is growing: let’s all be part of it! We are a commission close to its members. Our main goal is not to organize events for our members, but rather to support our members to organize their events. The QEC’s purpose is to give the student’s projects credibility and long-term stability.

Dear Quantum Engineering enthusiasts, This year is coming to an end, but in the Quantum Engineering Master at ETH Zürich we are already planning many great events for the next year! The first of them being the QuanTech Symposium happening on January 15th, 2025. This event will show the projects developed by a group of Quantum Engineering students, who worked in different, but relevant fields of Quantum Engineering during this semester at ETH. The symposium will be wrapped up with a master talk given by Prof. Sabrina Maniscalco from the company Algorithmiq, followed by an Apéro. This is a great chance to see how at ETH we are shaping the quantum engineers of tomorrow . If you are passionate about the fascinating world of Quantum, make sure to join us on January 15th!
