Swiss–US Macroeconomic Dialogue On 16 October 2025, State Secretary Daniela Stoffel met with Michael Kaplan, Under Secretary for International Affairs at the US Treasury, in Washington for the Swiss–US Macroeconomic Dialogue, accompanied by representatives of the Swiss National Bank. As part of this regular dialogue, the two delegations discussed current monetary and financial issues, the developments of virtual currencies and fintech regulation. Swiss–UK Financial Dialogue:: On 9 October 2025, another round of regular financial dialogue between Switzerland and the United Kingdom took place in Bern. Led by Christoph König, Deputy State Secretary at the State Secretariat for International Finance SIF, and Richard Knox, Director of Financial Services at the HM Treasury, the delegations discussed current work in international financial bodies and key regulatory issues, particularly in the area of banking stability and supervisory regimes, as well as topics related to innovation. The exchange also focused on the implementation of the Berne Financial Services Agreement, which regulates mutual market access and will enter into force on 1 January 2026. More Efficiency in Financial Regulation: At a conference of the European Banking Authority (EBA) held in Paris on 7 October 2025, Swiss State Secretary for International Finance Daniela Stoffel advocated for principle-based regulation instead of highly detailed rules. Schweiz stärkt Geldwäscherei-Bekämpfung Am 26. September 2025 hat das Schweizer Parlament in den Schlussabstimmungen die Vorlage zur Stärkung der Geldwäschereibekämpfung definitiv genehmigt. Es wird ein Transparenzregister für die Identifizierung von wirtschaftlich Berechtigten bei juristischen Personen geschaffen. Zudem gelten Sorgfaltspflichten neu auch für gewisse risikobehaftete Beratungstätigkeiten. Als nächstes wird der Bundesrat eine Vernehmlassung für die nötigen Detail-Verordnungen eröffnen. Mit dem Inkrafttreten der neuen Regeln ist in der zweiten Hälfte 2026 zu rechnen. ***** La Suisse renforce la lutte contre le blanchiment d'argent Le 26 septembre 2025, le Parlement suisse a définitivement approuvé, lors du vote final, le projet visant à renforcer la lutte contre le blanchiment d'argent. Un registre de transparence sera créé pour l'identification des ayants droit économiques des personnes morales. En outre, les obligations de diligence s'appliqueront désormais également à certaines activités de conseil à risque. La prochaine étape consistera pour le Conseil fédéral à ouvrir une consultation sur les ordonnances détaillées nécessaires. L'entrée en vigueur des nouvelles règles est prévue pour le second semestre 2026. **** Switzerland strengthens anti-money laundering measures On 26 September 2025, the Swiss Parliament definitively approved the bill to strengthen anti-money laundering measures in the final vote. A transparency register will be created for the identification of beneficial owners of legal entities. In addition, due diligence requirements will now also apply to certain high-risk advisory activities. The next step will be for the Federal Council to open a consultation process for the necessary detailed regulations. The new rules are expected to come into force in the second half of 2026.
