The promise of AI is clear, but too many initiatives remain stuck in pilot mode – the so-called “Gen AI paradox.” As Pravina Ladva, Swiss Re’s Chief Digital & Technology Officer, explains, successful projects hinge on strong foundations: applying AI to real business challenges, building on robust data, and adhering to good governance. At Swiss Re, this approach is already paying off in claims, underwriting and beyond, turning AI’s potential into operational gains that empower our employees and support our clients. During WWII, we helped the Red Cross deliver supplies to POW camps, organising sea voyages across dangerous waters 🌊 We were also tasked by the Swiss Federal Council to manage the Federal War Insurance, safeguarding imports and exports from war-related risks. More than a hundred Swiss marine insurance agencies wrote policies and over 10,000 claims were paid, reflecting how insurance supported stability and humanitarian efforts during one of history’s most uncertain times. 🌍 🔗 Discover more stories from our history and how we build resilience today: https://ow.ly/eeCQ50WIOFg

How can the financial sector stay connected in an increasingly fragmented world? 🌍 That was the key question underpinning discussions at a high-level roundtable we organised in Washington D.C. together with the ICMA - International Capital Market Association) and the International Organization of Securities Commissions - IOSCO on the sidelines of the IIF Annual Members Meeting. Senior leaders from across finance and policy shared their views, and a few clear messages emerged: 👇 🔹 Consistency and interoperability of standards are key to keeping markets stable and connected. 🔹 Closer cooperation among policymakers, regulators, and market participants is essential to reduce friction and strengthen resilience. 🔹 For the re/insurance industry in particular, maintaining capital mobility is critical to allow us to pay claims quickly and continue to support resilient communities after adverse shocks, such as when natural catastrophes strike. A big thank you to all who joined us for this insightful discussion and helped drive the conversation forward, especially ICMA CEO Bryan Pascoe and IOSCO Secretary General Rodrigo Buenaventura!
