Last week, Freddy Koch, Regional Thematic Director Green Cities in Latin America and Juliane Giesen, Key Account Manager Sida at Swisscontact, had the honour of participating in a highly engaging knowledge exchange with the team from the SEI – Stockholm Environment Institute. This meeting was part of a technical visit organised by the Swedish Embassy in Bolivia for the Zero Waste Project, bringing together various public and #PrivateSector actors in Sweden who are contributing to the #WasteManagement, #EnergyTransition and more #Sustainable industrial practices. We are grateful to Sida for the opportunity to be part of this inspiring dialogue. Read more below ⬇️

🌿 A successful green transition needs the right policies grounded in strong research, data and collaboration. As Bolivia takes its first steps toward greener industrial practices, it is seeking trusted partners like SEI to support its ambitions. Earlier this week, Kim Andersson and Tomas Thernström, together with Per Andersson, Eileen Torres-Morales, Arati Davis and Jane Birch from Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT), met with a Bolivian delegation visiting Sweden. It was an inspiring afternoon exploring pathways for Bolivia’s green future: ♻️ Advancing waste reduction and circular economy models 🔌 Waste-to-fuel solutions to reduce reliance on natural gas 🔋⚡ Unlocking the potential of Bolivia’s vast lithium resources, critical to the global clean-energy transition 💰 Utilizing Article 6 as a new source of climate finance – included for the first time in Bolivia’s NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions) 🏭 Industry decarbonization, where the cement sector is a priority. LeadIT member SaltX Technology showcased their electrification and carbon-capture innovations that could help shape a low-carbon industrial future. Grateful to Sida for hosting the discussion. We are looking forward to seeing how Bolivia turns its green ambitions into reality. 🌱 cc Freddy Koch, Guido Meruvia, Ludvig Nokleby, Corey Blackman

𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐄𝐏! 🎉 A decade of empowering startup ecosystems across the globe - what a journey! 🎊 We’re proud to be part of this story and stand alongside Swiss EP - Swiss Entrepreneurship Program in this mission! Let’s keep creating opportunities together and celebrate this milestone! #SwissEP10

It's official — 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝗣 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝟭𝟬! 𝘞𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘱 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥. When we started back in 2015, the world looked very different. Incubators were the thing, acceleration programs were emerging, and #startups were still rare in most of our focus countries: Albania 🇦🇱, Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦, North Macedonia 🇲🇰 (then Republic of Macedonia, or FYROM), Peru 🇵🇪, Serbia 🇷🇸, and Vietnam 🇻🇳. Since then, we've successfully completed two phases of our development and are 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘳𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘥 𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘌𝘗. Along the way, we welcomed a new country, Kosovo 🇽🇰, into the program in 2019. Over the years, we've watched the world change and proudly 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀. Our agility and ability to adapt have helped us face challenges and seize opportunities. None of this would have been possible without the tremendous support of SECO Economic Cooperation and Development — not only 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗿. A heartfelt thank-you also goes to Swisscontact and J.E. Austin Associates, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. 💡 Over the next 30 days, we'll look back at the past decade, share stories from our experts, reflect on our impact, celebrate success stories, and talk openly about our lessons learned. 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! Share your favorite Swiss EP moment in the comments or use the hashtag #SwissEP10 to tell us more about your favorite encounter with us.

Through this collaboration, national agencies—especially the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE)—will gain structured access to e-learning courses, practical tools, and international best practices to strengthen #PestRiskManagement, #Surveillance, and #PhytosanitaryCertificationSystems. 🎙 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬: ▪️Sarah Brunel – IFU Lead, IPPC Secretariat ▪️Preet Parmar – International Phytosanitary Specialist, IPPC Secretariat & FAO 🎤 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫: ▪️Ravi Khetarpal – Executive Director, APAARI This initiative positions Bangladesh within the global phytosanitary dialogue, helping bridge regulatory gaps and prepare national systems for increasing participation in export markets. During his visit to Bandung, Mr Parmelin was guest of honour at the signing of a landmark partnership between Swisscontact and POLMAN Badung (Politeknik Manufaktur Negeri Bandung (PMS-ITB)) - a polytechnic that Swisscontact has supported since the 1970s and helped shape into a national leader in applied engineering. The agreement reaffirms a shared commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s #VocationalEducation and training system. This collaboration continues to empower young Indonesians with future-ready #Skills for a competitive and sustainable economy. In his speech, Mr Parmelin emphasised the central role of the #PrivateSector in Switzerland’s vocational system - a principle deeply embedded in Swisscontact’s work. Aligning education with industry needs is key to building a resilient, future-ready workforce that supports Indonesia’s #EconomicGrowth and #IndustrialTransformation.
