Another milestone toward sustainable mobility! 🚌 Synhelion and Zurich Airport Ltd have fueled a passenger bus with solar diesel produced at Synhelion’s industrial-scale DAWN plant. 🚍 Just in time for the fall vacation rush – one of the busiest travel periods at Zurich Airport – the bus powered by Synhelion’s renewable diesel will be in regular service, carrying passengers between terminal and aircraft. Traveling through Zurich Airport this fall? Keep an eye out for the Synhelion-branded bus! 🛢️ Zurich Airport is pushing electrification as part of its strategy to reduce its own CO₂ emissions to net zero. But not every vehicle can run on batteries – some special-purpose vehicles need alternatives. That’s where Synhelion’s renewable synthetic fuels step in: compatible with today’s engines and infrastructure, they deliver clean energy where electrification is not possible. 💧 This real-world deployment proves that renewable fuels are not just a vision of the future – they are ready today. 🚗 How can we defossilize cars? 👉 The answer is: electrification and renewable fuels. Passenger cars account for ~9.5% of global CO₂ emissions, making them one of the biggest contributors to climate change. A new study by Christoph Falter, Head of Strategy at Synhelion, et al., published in npj Sustainable Mobility and Transport (Nature Portfolio), shows that the fastest, most effective way to defossilize cars is not an “either-or” choice: ➡️ Accelerate electrification of new cars ➡️ Defossilize the existing fleet with renewable fuels It’s not about competition or choosing sides. It’s about combining strengths and synergies. Electric vehicles and renewable fuels are complementary solutions – and together, they can truly defossilize passenger cars. 💡 Discover the key insights from the study in our latest blog article.
