Our WPA Section participated with great success in a state-of-the-art symposium and three additional symposia, with presentations on Artificial Intelligence and its applications in Psychiatry in the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) congress of 2025 in Prague I am truly delighted and proud of the outstanding work being done by the Digital Mental Health Section under the leadership of Dr. Davor Mucic, and the contribution of Hilty Donald, Joan Soler Vidal and the rest of our members that are growing fast. Looking forward to continue this journey especially for these esteemed colleagues — see you next year in Stockholm!

That’s a wrap on a jam-packed European autumn conference season!  Thanks to all at ECED 2025 in Budapest who joined Hubert Lacey, Eric van Furth, Anna Keski-Rahkonen, myself and Gerry Butcher for: Mature Reflections! Have we got it all wrong?       And thanks to all who joined Ulrich Voderholzer, Fernando Fernandez-Aranda and myself at World Psychiatric Association (WPA) World Congress of Psychiatry in Prague for a robust discussion on: Longstanding anorexia nervosa: Lived experience, clinical innovation and emerging science. It was a pleasure to attend the 25th World Congress of Psychiatry in Prague (World Psychiatric Association (WPA)). It was a great opportunity to present some nice results from my thesis focused on the relationship between lifestyle and mental disorders. It was a great privilege to present two short orals and one e-poster at the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) World Congress of Psychiatry 2025 in Prague. I was delighted to share findings from my dissertation with an international audience and to engage in insightful discussions with psychiatrists and psychologists from around the world. This experience has been inspiring and enriching; and has provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, gain new perspectives, and contribute to the global conversation on mental health. #WCP2025 #Psychiatry #Research #MentalHealth #Prague

At the World Psychiatric Congress in Prague, RANZCP President Dr Astha Tomar joined presidents from psychiatric and mental health organisations worldwide to co-sign ‘The #PragueAgreement’ – urging global financial institutions to incentivise investment in #mentalhealthcare. #Mentalhealth remains chronically underfunded globally. In Australia, the Productivity Commission estimates that mental ill health costs the Australian economy up to $70 billion annually in lost productivity and $150 billion in diminished quality of life – roughly 10% of GDP. New Zealand Treasury’s Living Standards Framework similarly identifies mental wellbeing as a key determinant of national productivity. Yet less than 1 percent of total GDP is currently directed toward specialised mental health services. Promoting good mental health is no longer simply a human rights imperative, it makes economic sense. Thank you for an unforgettable experience at the World Psychiatric Congress in Prague! 🌍 World Psychiatric Association (WPA) The WPA Congress has just come to an end, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to take part in such an inspiring and enriching event. 🙏 I had the pleasure of participating in oral poster sessions focused on key topics such as mood disorders, personality disorders, and eating disorders. It was a unique chance to exchange ideas with professionals from all over the world, each bringing their own perspectives and expertise to the discussion. 🧠✨ A heartfelt thank you to the speakers, organizers, and all the participants for the engaging conversations and the welcoming, collaborative atmosphere. The opportunity to learn, share, and connect on a global scale was truly invaluable. This congress reaffirmed the importance of our collective commitment to improving mental health care worldwide.
