New ideas are moving into Crypto Valley! 🧠 We’re thrilled to welcome the Zug Institute for Blockchain Research to our CV Labs Zug headquarters, adding even more brainpower to our vibrant community of innovators. The Canton of Zug is investing CHF 39.35 million over five years to establish this world-class institute in collaboration with the University of Lucerne and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. AI companions for financial advisors and wealth managers need to become the norm and we need to actually build them, not just talk about them! This was the topic of my opening key note at the OpenWealth Association's forum in Zurich 🇨🇭 last week. 👩 Demographic shift in clients due to the USD 100T Wealth Transfer and these clients expectations of digital, seamless service 👨‍🦳 A simultaneous mass retirement in the financial advisory and wealth management sector (in the UK, 50% of these will retire within the next 5 years) 💸 The emerging importance of accessing the mass affluent market 🤖 The technological possibilities of conversational and agentic AI 📊 The importance of standardised, consent based and (market) regulated data I was thoroughly impressed with the work the industry in Switzerland is doing through Openwealth (bring on API Version 3) and other associations. I also very much enjoyed listening to Martin Stadler's view on the state of the wealth(tech) industry in Switzerland and his call to action, as well as Mike Hofmann's update of SIX Banking Services BLink's work and upcoming use cases to launch. Simon Alioth very impressively showed what AI agents can do (even if only put together in an afternoon) in wealth management. And Thomas Egner very eloquently demonstrated his view on the state of FIDA and market vs regulator-driven schemes, which we discussed in the closing panel. The evening was filled with very encouraging conversations. All I can say: something's brewing in Switzerland - Dina Schoch Ivo Bieri Frank Gräsner Sven Siat Yves Kopp and many more, thanks for the inspiration. In the 1990s, Interbrand was involved in an important moment in banking history. When UBS AG and Swiss Bank Corporation merged, they faced a complex challenge: to create a unified brand that would honor both institutions' legacies while laying the foundation for their shared future. The challenge was to bring together two respected organizations, each with its heritage and strengths, and create something cohesive and authentic. By working closely with their teams, Interbrand developed an approach that both strategically and visually maintained that desired balance. The best example was the new logo, which kept the key symbol that was meaningful to Swiss Bank Corporation's clients and combined it with the UBS lettering. This project was a masterclass on finding the right balance between respecting tradition and embracing change. But what really proves the success of any move is long-term growth. Since 1995, UBS has navigated complex global markets, adapted to changing client needs, and built a presence across continents. The recent acquisition of Credit Suisse is a further demonstration of its strength after 30 years and its vital role in the Swiss and global markets. #𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲! Who would have thought? If someone announced a piece of news like this 12 months ago… probably you would have called the ambulance.🚑 But no, here it is, true and impactful. Last week, 𝟔𝟏 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 operating in Germany announced > 𝐄𝐔𝐑 𝟔𝟑𝟎Bn (USD 734Bn) of investment until 2028. The list is impressive: from 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 to 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥, from 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 to 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, from 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 to 𝐈𝐓 – the Who’s Who of every sector in the German economy is represented. Even more telling: large Private Equity firms like 𝐀𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨, 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐄𝐐𝐓, 𝐂𝐕𝐂, 𝐊𝐊𝐑, 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞… all famous for having a good nose for investing in the right place at the right time, are joining the bandwagon and weighing in with their massive financial firepower. ✅Yes, some investments were already planned (or even overdue) and were simply relabelled. ❌ And yes, some projects will end up underperforming. ✅But when so many prominent companies move into one direction, something interesting is bound to happen. Strong banks are getting ready to play their role and lubricate the corporate value chains that are now finally setting in motion.
