Last week I had the chance to work with the design and accessibility teams at Deutsche Telekom during a two-day workshop all about AI in the design process. We explored real use cases, tested AI-powered workflows, challenged assumptions, and discussed what it really means to design with AI not just use the latest tools. One design from the team said a sentence that really stuck with me: “AI is a superpower. We just need to learn how to use it right.” 💥 Couldn’t have said it better. Because that’s exactly the point right now: AI won’t replace good design but it will change how we work, collaborate, and make decisions. And it’s up to us as design teams to shape that shift intentionally and use AI with purpose. Design has never just been about pushing pixels. It’s about solving real problems, asking better questions, and making smart, human-centered choices. AI can support us in all of that if we know how. 🚄 On my way to the 13th DIY E-Commerce Day in Cologne, where I’ll be speaking with René Groll, CDO at Gust. Alberts GmbH & Co. KG, about one of the biggest barriers to successful D2C strategies: Product Pricing. Many brands dream of direct-to-consumer: higher margins, direct customer relationships, better data. In practice, D2C often remains a side channel. Not because of poor strategy, but because of pricing dilemmas: retailers demand stability, online customers compare prices. Lower prices risk delistings, higher prices hurt conversion. Internal structures add complexity: incentives favor wholesale, pricing decisions are political and slow, and dynamic pricing tools are missing. In a market where competitors adjust prices multiple times a day, this is a serious disadvantage. The solution lies in an integrated strategy: - Clear product segmentation - Consistent trading conditions - Dynamic pricing taking real time market prices into consideration - Analytics to analyse and protect pricing decisions This approach protects retailer relationships while unlocking new growth opportunities. Companies that manage pricing professionally can turn D2C from an failing experiment into a true revenue channel.

Last week at the Axel Springer #aisummit25 in Berlin, one message was clear: AI MUST move from vision to value. Scaling AI is key – the fuel for the AI engine is data: reliable, context-rich, and trusted data, that is, with quality over quantity. Here, Europe can lead the way by providing sectoral data spaces and small data rooms, harmonizing and setting clear standards, helping companies, specifically SMBs to close gaps. The Data Act and Data Governance Act are strong foundations. We now need simplification, interoperability and quick ways for SMBs to join in. Thank you Axel Springer for bringing politics and business together to discuss #AIandData. A strong step toward shaping Europe’s digital future.
