We think these lessons are likely to apply to AI. The dire predictions issued in recent years for various occupations have not come to pass. For example, far from being replaced by AI, radiologists are thriving - and incorporating AI into their workflow. However, technology's impacts can be distributed unevenly and certain groups may bear more of the transition costs. How do governments and businesses ensure that workers have the skills and adaptability needed to thrive with this new technology? We discuss some policy options in the piece. One of the most significant opportunities for AI to benefit society is helping to accelerate cancer research and early diagnosis. Just this week our teams, working with partners, shared advances on three fronts: Research breakthroughs: Our C2S-Scale 27B foundation model, built with Yale University and based on Gemma, is a new frontier for single-cell analysis. The tool allows researchers to quickly simulate cell responses to thousands of potential treatments, speeding up the search for new medicines. https://lnkd.in/efr4KnPX Targeted Treatments: We're open-sourcing DeepSomatic, our new model capable of accurately differentiating actual genetic cancer variants from the technical artifacts (or errors) introduced during sequencing, addressing a critical hurdle in developing treatments.
