🌉 Reimagining bridges with intelligence and design — by Francisco Ruz Q. from Fab Lab A Industriosa! For his Fab Academy 2025 final project, Francisco set out to build something truly unique: a self-assembling timber bridge that not only stands strong but also thinks for itself. Made from modular wooden blocks with self-aligning joints, the bridge gracefully forms an arch when suspended. But what makes it special is its smart feedback system — powered by the Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32C3, load cells, and LED indicators. 🟢 As weight shifts across the bridge, sensors measure the load and the LEDs change color to show the structure’s stress in real time — a perfect fusion of architecture, engineering, and data visualization.
