Targeting Revisits Map shows the 1 km squares with records of soldierfly species (family Stratiomyidae) from the Ground Beetle Recording Scheme.

Colours indicate 1 km square status based on existing and new records (made or submitted in the current year). Click on squares on the map to get further information.

Squares with records from more than one year ('multi-year') can be used in our trend analysis. Records added this year can be new sightings this year or older records submitted this year. 'Rediscoveries' highlight square with 4+ taxa but no records for 10+ years.

Bright pink = Targets for revisits : Records from only one year in the past. If revisited they can be included in our trend analyses.
Pale pink = New this year : Records added this year are the first for this square. Next year will become Targets for revisit .
Pale green = Successful revisits : Previously with records from only a single year (or none) but now with records from multiple years. Can be included in our trend analyses.
Dark green = Multi-year : Already have records from multiple years and used in our trend analyses. Additional records continue to be valuable.
Blank square = Unrecorded : No records of these species in the recording scheme database.

Select Show Rediscovery to highlight squares with 4+ species but no records for the 10+ years.

Thick dark pink border = Rediscovery targets : Records of 4+ taxa but last record was 10+ years ago.
Thick dark green border = Rediscovery success : Previously Rediscovery targets but now with record(s) added this year.

Further information

All records are valuable, but when recording it is especially valuable to record all the species that you observe during a visit.

This Targeting Revisits Map is updated continuously with records submitted to iRecord. The map includes recent records that have not yet been verified in addition to existing verified records.

Researchers in the Biological Records Centre at UKCEH use data from squares that have Multi-year records (dark green) to estimate trends in species distributions. Visit Targets for revisits (dark pink) to turn pink squares to green. Visit Rediscovery targets to add even more data for trends analysis. All records are valuable - but it is especially valuable to record all the species that you can find! More information.

Click in the lower right corner of the map to toggle on/off the Rediscovery categories and to select between basemaps: the new default Carto Positron or basemap from the previous version (Open Street map). The Carto Positron basemap uses muted colours and improves the visibility of the plotted squares while the Open Street Map basemap is easier to navigate but can make the squares harder to distinguish.

These maps are provided for information only. It is always your responsibility to stay safe and legal when recording.
