While it felt like half of LinkedIn was at Bits & Pretzels 😅, I was at my first academic conference since leaving academia - and loved it. I need to admit: some of the talks were hard to follow (even with plenty of coffee). Seems like my “academic talk listening” brain region has gotten a little rusty these past years. But I was reminded again of two things. First: how many years of careful, often tedious experiments it takes to really prove something and push innovation forward. And second: why I love ageing research so much. It’s such a complex, multifaceted field that you end up with people from different disciplines all in one room. That’s where the magic happens. Thank you, Maria Ermolaeva, for the invitation! I had so much fun on the panel talking about the translational potential of ageing research. The panel wasn’t just us sharing our perspectives - I actually walked away having learned something new myself. Thank you for the valuable discussion to the moderator and panel members: Matt Kaeberlein, Dr. Anela Vukoja , Oliver Tüscher, Lenhard Rudolph, and Yanina-Yasmin Pesch. And maybe my favorite part: after the panel, I had some great conversations with PhDs who are already thinking about spinning off their ideas. That mix of scientific depth and entrepreneurial curiosity is exactly what makes this community so inspiring ☺️
