On May 27, we proudly participated in the 13th German Diversity Day under the motto "When diversity wins, DB wins." Initiated by Deutsche Bahn, our team of HR experts planned a vast program of interactive sessions, including different factors that foster a respectful and inclusive workplace culture. Awareness for topics such as generational diversity, cultural backgrounds and sexism were at the heart of the day. Highlights included thought-provoking sessions like “Unconscious Bias – Do not believe everything you think” and “Small words, big impact: Recognizing and addressing microaggressions”, offering practical insights to challenge existing mindsets and promote mutual understanding. The day concluded with “Intercultural onboarding – Retaining personnel from other cultures sustainably”, providing strategies to enhance collaboration across cultural boundaries. We are grateful for the engagement of all participants, whose contributions made this day a success. The sessions provided actionable strategies for addressing various biases in everyday work. By integrating these insights into our processes and interactions, we aim to further strengthen our commitment to a diverse and equitable workplace.

We are proud to celebrate the successful collaboration between the European Investment Bank (EIB) and our subsidiary DB Engineering & Consulting. By combining European best practices, German engineering expertise, and deep knowledge of the local market, our Urban Mobility Competence Hub (UMCH) is set to transform India’s urban mobility landscape. With decades of experience in rail systems, DB E&C is driving progress through a focus on sustainable design, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence. In alignment with India’s Metro Rail Policy, the UMCH is enhancing metro projects by integrating innovative technologies, advanced project management techniques, and EIB safeguards, paving the way for sustainable and efficient urban transportation. We look forward to continuing this impactful collaboration and extend our congratulations to EIB and KfW on strengthening their partnership.
European Investment Bank (EIB) and KfW reinforce their partnership in India 🇮🇳 In order to support a joint investment in KRIDE Bengaluru Suburban Light Railway, announced by VP Nicola Beer back in October, EIB 🇪🇺 and KfW 🇩🇪 signed a Mutual Reliance Initiative (MRI) Project Letter to facilitate co-lenders’ coordination in this flagship #TeamEurope project. EIB urban mobility projects in India benefit from DB Engineering & Consulting advisory services funded by EIB. The MRI Letter will allow for even better coordination across the board. Klaus Liebig, Head of KfW Climate Finance and Mobility South Asia Division, and Edvardas Bumsteinas, CFA, Head of EIB Asia Pacific Division, signed the MRI Letter, which was countersigned by Patricia Immler, Senior KfW Portfolio Manager, and Heloise Gornal-Thode, Senior EIB Investment Officer. The signature was executed at EIB HQ in Luxembourg 🇱🇺 . The MRI signature was followed by a technical discussion with the input of EIB urban mobility specialists Zoltán Donáth and Angeliki Kopsacheili, as well as institutional partnership colleagues Eirini Koutra and Kalina Dimitrova. The outgoing loan officer Katrin Bock, originally responsible for the project, has also joined the meeting to congratulate the teams. Using the occasion, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed both to the investment and also to the implementation of the KRIDE project 🚆

We were thrilled to participate in NT Expo 2025 in São Paulo, Brazil, from April 22 to 24! As proud sponsors of this leading railway event, we joined industry experts and decision-makers to explore innovations shaping the future of rail transport in Brazil and beyond. Our team had a strong presence, showcasing our expertise in rail innovation and digitalization. Alain Bruhn Esteve, Executive Director Brazil, joined the panel “AI on the Tracks: How to Drive Railway Transformation?”, sharing how AI enhances predictive maintenance, traffic management, safety monitoring, and user experience. A prime example for this are digital twins, such as our pilot project in one of Colombia’s metro system. Here, real-time data integration aims to significantly improve maintenance processes, reduce downtime, and extend asset lifespans. Digital twins offer a game-changing approach by combining IoT data, predictive analytics, and BIM models, enabling smarter decisions and more efficient operations. While Brazil’s railway sector has faced challenges like a fragmented network and historical underinvestment, it has shown remarkable resilience and potential for innovation. The growing focus on modernization, sustainability, and efficiency creates opportunities for transformative technologies. We’re proud to support the sector’s evolution with proven expertise and cutting-edge solutions.
