The Research Area Deep Tech Innovation of RWTH Aachen University bridges the gap between early-stage research and market-ready technologies. Our mission is to overcome the innovation gap between low and high Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) by enabling systematic, cross-faculty, and science-driven innovation processes. We focus on identifying, developing, and scaling disruptive technologies that address complex societal and industrial challenges. Our approach combines academic excellence with practical application, creating new pathways for Deep Tech to reach real-world impact. Our core areas include: 🔹 Strategic Technology Management: helping companies identify, evaluate, and shape future technologies 🔹 Science-based Foresight & Future Research: exploring emerging trends and transformative scenarios 🔹 Systematic support for Technology Transfer: from lab prototypes to scalable solutions 🔹 Collaborative innovation models: connecting researchers, startups, and industry across disciplines We work closely with national and international partners from science and industry to co-develop projects, validate innovation approaches, and bring forward-thinking ideas to life. In addition to our industrial collaborations, we actively support and mentor the next generation of innovators.
