It is my great pleasure to speak at Handelsblatt Live Corporate Climate Adapation live event on 30th and 31st October in Düsseldorf, which will bring together decision-makers from businesses, start-ups, the financial sector, and academia to exchange ideas and network on the economic and societal impacts of climate change, on adaptation strategies in order to protect companies, economies, and communities, and to learn about transformative new approaches towards more resilience. 📣Want to explore how businesses in emerging markets are driving transformation, together with DEG then join in for my slot on Thursday 30th October, from 13:45 – 14:45 in the Insight Session on “Transformation as business case – success stories from Emerging Markets“. I will showcase 1️⃣ our approach with our 3 transformation catalysts: risk analysis, investment focus and transformation advisory and 2️⃣ transformation stories from DEG investments in the financial and corporate sector. Emerging Markets are of special interest: They are especially vulnerable towards physical risks at the same time offering chances for nature-positive investments and increasingly important for global and European supply-chains. 💡 For more than 60 years, DEG has focused on sustainable private investments in Emerging Markets. Our portfolio is about 11 billion EUR. We are proud that today about 1/3 of our new business is climate finance. I’m very much looking forward to getting insights from sustainability experts like Florian Feigs, Elin Al Zaim and Sandra Broschat. Thank you for the invitation, Handelsblatt, Berit van Geul, Daniel Schmitz-Remberg, Nele Dohmen, Mareike Zeisig. 🤓 Knowledge transfer and job creation: DEG supports German SME in setting up production in Vietnam 🎉 DEG is providing a EUR 3 million loan under its #ImpactConnect programme to enable German INGUN Group to set up production in Vietnam, its first foreign production unit. The total investment volume is around EUR 5 million. 👩🏭 The investment will contribute to knowledge transfer, as INGUN is bringing to Vietnam a product range not previously produced there. In the first year, the subsidiary is expected to create around 30 new jobs with living wages to set up production, with further expansion stages being planned. 🗣️ “In the case of INGUN, we are helping a medium-sized, family-owned German company that has extensive expertise in a relevant market niche to set up its first production unit abroad. The financing will enable INGUN to expand production to Vietnam, thereby enhancing the company’s growth and resilience,” says Klaus Helsper, Head of German Business at DEG. ℹ️ The family-run company with over 450 employees develops testing technology and sells its products at more than 40 of its own locations worldwide. Setting up a Vietnamese subsidiary will take some of the pressure off the Konstanz plant, which to date has been the sole production site.  Since its founding in 1971, INGUN has become a world market leader for testing and connector equipment, assuring the quality of electrical and electronic products in numerous industries with its portfolio. 💡 DEG’s ImpactConnect programme helps to support and assist mainly German companies with smaller investment projects in developing countries and emerging economies. In 2024 alone, through ImpactConnect, DEG provided loans totalling EUR 74 million from resources made available by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) to fund 19 projects in more risky markets

Economist at Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (DEG)

Are we entering a new era of global fragmentation — and what does that mean for growth, trade, and development? 🌍 Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming Neil Shearing, Group Chief Economist at Capital Economics, to the DEG – Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH. He presented his new book, The Fractured Age, offering a fascinating analysis of how geopolitical tensions, technological change, and structural shifts are reshaping the global economy — and what opportunities and challenges lie ahead. A big thank-you to Neil Shearing for his thought-provoking insights and to everyone who helped make this engaging discussion possible. 🙏 Natalie de Wit-Solounov Olaf Zymelka Roland Siller Monika Beck Joachim Schumacher, CFA Lars Bergens Tom Mills #Economics #Geopolitics #DevelopmentFinance #CapitalEconomics #DEG #TheFracturedAge #GlobalEconomy

DEG continues to support African Hidden Champions It was an honour to represent DEG as a founding partner of the African Hidden Champions Initiative during this year’s African Hidden Champions Summit in Accra. At the reception hosted by Ambassador Frederik Landshöft at the German Embassy, I had the privilege to speak about entrepreneurship as one of the most powerful forces for transformation — creating jobs, driving innovation, and connecting our societies in lasting ways. Over two inspiring days, I met extraordinary entrepreneurs — the “Hidden Champions” across Africa who are shaping industries, building communities, and driving sustainable growth. Through the African Hidden Champions Initiative, DEG and its partners help identify, support, and connect mid-sized African companies that lead in their sectors — enabling them to scale across borders and thrive globally. 👉 Learn more about the African Hidden Champions Initiative and its network here: https://lnkd.in/esDc4Sbw Franziska Hollmann, Yasmin Kumi, Edmund Poku, Kuseni Dlamini, DEG Impulse, Blue Skies, Jospong Group of Companies, Aspen Pharma Group #teamdeginvest #Africa #EmergingMarkets #Impact #Transformation

🍁Fall = event season! 💡Working with private companies from around the world means #peoplebusiness, with loads of communication. During the last two weeks we at DEG in Cologne had the opportunity to host some major events, fostering international dialogue. One of them: the reception on the occasion of the 76. Latin America Day, the main annual conference of LAV - Lateinamerika Verein e.V., this year in Cologne. Around 270 guests gathered at our HQ atrium, among them several DEG clients from Latin America and Germany. An inspiring evening full of networking. Many thanks to all participants! 👏 Last Monday, we hosted our traditional reception during Anuga, the world largest food fair, taking place in Cologne every 2 years. In 2025, Anuga welcomed 140.000 attendants from around 200 countries. Since around twenty years, DEG invites its valued agribusiness customers and partners on the occasion of this fair to a reception. This time, more than 70 guests from various countries, well-known and new clients, followed our invitation and made this reception once again a lively, special event. Already looking forward to meeting you next time! 👋 Finally, we had our 3rd internal DEG townhall , with almost 200 colleagues attending IRL in our atrium and 140 colleagues following the live stream. Among the topics: current political + economic developments, status of business year 2025, plus an outlook on DEG‘s future plans. Supporting internal dialogue accross all hierarchies with communication formats such as these townhalls is essential, especially in volatile times. Thank you all for being part of it!🙌 Event season isn‘t over yet: stay tuned. #teamdeginvest Justus Vitinius Franziska Hollmann Roland Siller Monika Beck Joachim Schumacher, CFA Petra B. CEO bei DEG - More than finance. We shape transformation.

Global Gateway is the vehicle via which support for strategic investments of joint interests between Europe and the Global South is provided. At the Global Gateway Forum in Brussels this week, I was present when two strategic issues were further advanced. I was honored to be there for the signing ceremony for guarantee agreements between the European Commission, with Commissioners Jozef Síkela, Dubravka Šuica and Marta Kos, together with David K., General Manager of European DFIs - EDFI, network Michael Jongeneel, CEO of FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, and Jean-Baptiste Sabatié, deputy CEO of Proparco. The new guarantee “Transforming Global Value Chains programme” aims to make value chains more resilient and secure and enables more European companies to invest. Another important topic was the focus of the round table on one of the Global Gateway Flagships, the ASEAN Power Grid, that I was part of, together with high-ranking participants from ministries, other DFIs, and international institutions. Such an electricity grid could improve power supply and access to renewable energy in Southeast Asia, a strategic investment region for Europe. I am proud that DEG and KfW Group are working together with EU as strong partners to pursue common interests, as with this topic. Together, we can make an offer that builds a bridge between growth opportunities for German and European energy sector companies and the interests of partner countries in Asia. As KfW Group, we are in the unique position: While KfW Development Bank can finance basic grid infrastructure and provide regulatory support for governments, KfW IPEX-Bank can provide export finance solutions for German technology providers, and DEG finances private renewable energy companies or projects. DEG already has a strong portfolio in the energy/infrastructure sector in Asia and we have built extensive networks.  #OneBank Thank you for inviting me to this inspiring exchange, #TeamEurope! We at DEG look forward to future cooperation.
