We are excited to announce our latest investment in #sustainablepackaging company Xampla, a spin-off from the University of Cambridge    Xampla secured EUR 12M of investment, in a Series A round led by us at Matterwave Ventures, Emerald Technology Ventures and BGF, alongside existing investors Amadeus Capital Partners and Horizon Ventures.    The company has created world-first natural materials from plant protein, to replace the world’s most polluting plastics. We’re thrilled to see them making headlines with their groundbreaking collaboration with Airbus on geolocation of connected tools using private 5G networks. Togeher with Orange, Miodex, and Desoutter Tools, Firecell have just demonstrated the ability to locate objects with an accuracy ranging from less than one meter to five meters using private 5G networks in an Airbus assembly plant. What makes this special:

 📍 GPS-free precision - Achieving accurate tool geolocation using only standard 5G equipment leveraging UL-TDoA technology, no additional GPS required

Our factory floors continue to be hindered by legacy systems that operate in isolation, creating entrenched data silos. As a result, many facilities remain largely undigitized - not for lack of ambition, but due to the absence of solutions that seamlessly integrate into existing workflows without triggering costly downtime. This hesitation is understandable: in manufacturing, downtime directly equates to lost revenue. With the rise of Industrial AI, the conversation around robust data infrastructure for the factory floor has never been more relevant. Such infrastructure is essential to building factories that are flexible, scalable, and capable of minimizing disruptions.
