🚀 From Paper to Touchless in Just 3 Months – FRoSTA’s Automation Journey with SAP BTP 🚀   Here’s a story I really like to highlight: @FRoSTA AG, one of Europe’s leading frozen foods producers, set out to simplify something we all know can be messy: invoice processing. Think of all the formats: paper, PDFs, Excel files. 𝗕𝗔𝗣𝗜 & 𝗕𝗔𝗗𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗔𝗣. ✅ PM (Real Project Lens) Most consultants hear about BAPI and BADI in training. But in a real project, the way they’re applied is what matters. Here’s one I’ve seen firsthand 👇 ⸻ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗕𝗔𝗣𝗜? • A standard interface to push/pull data from SAP. • Perfect when a third-party tool needs to talk to SAP. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗕𝗔𝗗𝗜? • An enhancement point inside SAP. • Lets you add custom checks or logic without breaking standard. ⸻ ✅ Real PM Scenario: • A utility company wanted to create maintenance notifications directly from their mobile app. • Mobile app sends equipment breakdown details → SAP. 𝗕𝗔𝗣𝗜 side: We used BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_CREATE so the app could create notifications in SAP without manual entry. This gave seamless integration between mobile and SAP. 𝗕𝗔𝗗𝗜 side: Business wanted extra checks: • Only allow notifications for specific equipment categories. • Auto-assign planner group based on plant. We implemented a BADI (BADI_NOTIF_CREATE) to inject these validations before saving the notification. ⸻ 🗝 Key Difference in Action: •BAPI → Bridges external system to SAP. •BADI → Fine-tunes SAP’s process logic. Both together ensured: ✔️ Clean integration ✔️ Business-specific rules ✔️ Zero core modifications ⸻ 🔑 Takeaway In SAP PM projects, BAPI gets the data in.
