    Master Thesis:

Being motivated about validating factual data on Wikipedia, i had a chance to explore Natural Language Inference techniques and experimented utilizing them in a state of the art fact checking architecture DeFacto (Deep Fact Validation). The experience taught me a lot about AI, NLP, NLU and performance optimization as i had to face the challenge of running computationally expensive algorithms on limited resources to be used for limited number of days.

The experience was about introducing new students to the difference between spoon feeding education taught to them at secondary school and the university education style (Learning how to Learn). It was a great experience with great results on the new students. The team received a certificate of honor from the Chairman Dr.Ashraf Mansour.

  • Deep Fact Validation with Textual Entailment Techniques

Researching in how to automate the fact validation task is a very hot topic in

the research field nowadays because addressing it manually by human cura-
tors is a very time consuming multiple steps process, which involves reading

several documents and carrying out several search processes. DeFactoNLP

is an algorithm submitted for the FEVER 2018 Shared Task able to vali-
date claims in textual form by finding trustworthy evidence for them from

Wikipedia. Textual Entailment (TE) is a natural language understanding
task of deciding, giving two text fragments, whether one text is entailed
from the other. TE is one of the main components of the DeFactoNLP’s
architecture. In this thesis, we research into finding alternatives to the TE
component within DeFactoNLP’s pipeline and differently training it such
that the change leads to better results than its current version. Also, we
explore how can a simple majority vote approach be a better solution as a
final decision step than the pre-trained random forest classifier used within
    DeFactoNLP’s pipeline.

  • Bachelor Project: Graph-Based Semi-Supervised Learning For Daily Life Scene Image Classification

    Abstract:

Building a visual diary is a very challenging topic nowadays in the computer vision
research field, as the number of daily life scenes in every person’s life can vary from tens to
hundreds each day depending on each person’s life style. Building a visual diary requires

results but it needs a lot of manually labeled data in order to have promising results.
In this thesis, we propose a graph-based semi-supervised learning image classification
method that needs less manually labeled data than the supervised methods and also
    assure promising results.

Features of the Automated Gates Lanes:
    1. Providing a database for the AUC (Staff and Students) to be able to register the cars licence numbers to the system, which is synchronized with the AUC People Database.
    2. Once a subscribed to the system car is entering one of the gates, the ARH Camera detects its licence plate number , sends the number to an embedded controller, the controller checks it in the database created and automatically send an open command to the automated barrier, which will close right after the total body of the car passes the barrier.
    3. Once a unsubscribed to the system car is entering one of the gates, the ARH Camera detects its licence plate number , sends the number to an embedded controller, the controller checks it in the database created and make no action until the security guard choose to open the gate for (Dropoff or Parking) using a web application made using .NET Framework.

Point of Sale Web Application Features:
    1. Controlling when to open and close the gate barriers.
    2. Storing a high quality image of each car entering through each gate.
    3. Providing Video Surveillance to all gates 24/7.

  • Designing and Implementing CCTV and Video Surveillance Solution in El-Azhar Tunnel , Cairo, Egypt.

The Azhar Tunnel, one of the well-known tunnels in Egypt, had a CCTV and Video Surveillance System implemented and designed by Thomson in 2000. A main component of the system, which is the analog matrix switcher (Used for Surveillance Monitoring ) was not capable of functioning anymore. The project was to replace the matrix switcher system by another one supporting the same functions. Using a FATEK PLC with a Panasonic analog matrix switcher, the new system was implemented.
