Ciena’s acquisition of Coherent Corp’s DSP team in Germany working on 100ZR module development became known a couple of days ago by an executive in that country, with a post on social media, targeted to a customized audience. fibeReality has learned that 58 engineers from the team in Braunschweig are now at Ciena. The original emphasis in a telecom direction by the previous leadership at Coherent from Lumentum never made much sense, in that the “Finisar” legacy is datacom-centric, and so fibeReality recently anticipated such moves by the current CEO at the former (please see: https://lnkd.in/ezmEXAM7).

Adcom Computers turned to Xpedition and HyperLynx for the design of their Neptune FPGA-based hardware acceleration card, shown below. This card features an advanced high pin count design, requiring precise power management under stringent design constraints. The 18-layer architecture, equipped to handle data rates of 480 Gbps, needed extensive analysis of signal and power integrity, alongside 3D electromagnetics analysis, to ensure optimal performance. At the heart of this design are two Xilinx UltraScale FPGAs, complemented by two 4Gb hybrid memory cubes connected via 15Gbps lines. With no existing specifications or reference boards, the project demanded close collaboration with the Xilinx team to refine the FPGA core code for the memory cube controller. “Being able to have several people working on the same product at the same time helps reduce time to market, and nothing does that better than Xpedition,” Moshe Frid, team leader at Adcom Computers, said. #PCBDesign #ElectricalEngineering #FPGA
