South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA)
EDF power solutions aims to add 500 MW of low-carbon assets yearly in South Africa French energy group EDF says the consolidation of its two international low-carbon businesses into a new entity called EDF Power Solutions has repositioned it to implement multi-technology projects in the 25 countries in which it operates, including South Africa, where it has a goal of closing 5 GW of projects by 2030. EDF Power Solutions Southern Africa VP, Tristan de Drouas, says the merged entity - which combines #EDFRenewables and the #EDFGroup International Division, has expertise in wind, solar, hybrid, hydropower and pump hydro storage, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and biomass. WindEurope
France just awarded its biggest offshore wind project ever: 1.5 GW off the coast of Normandy. TotalEnergies won the AO8 auction. The project will power over 1 million homes, cut electricity costs and create jobs. France already has 1.6 GW of offshore wind in operation and another 1.5 GW under construction. It wants 18 GW by 2035 and 45 GW by 2050. But not all auctions are landing. On the same day, AO7 received no bids. Nine developers had prequalified, but technical challenges and market uncertainty made the site too risky. Future auctions must strike a better balance. The sector is ready. AO9 and AO10 need to launch soon to keep the pipeline moving. And the Government must approve the multiannual energy programme (PP3) to unlock AO10. Offshore wind brings clean power, jobs and energy independence. France must stay the course. Full story: https://lnkd.in/erFWEbQz

Montel
EDF has warned of possible output cuts affecting up to 7.7 GW of capacity across three nuclear plants in southeastern France, due to high water temperatures in the Rhone river. At Bugey 2, capacity will be reduced by 80% to 180 MW on Friday between 03:00 and 17:00 CET. Additional reductions may follow from Sunday at St Alban, where only one 1.3 GW unit is running, and from next Wednesday at Tricastin, where one 915 MW reactor is offline. The plants rely on the Rhone river for cooling. When river temperatures rise, limits are imposed on heat discharge to protect the ecosystem. EDF has previously warned of possible restrictions at Bugey but cancelled several planned curtailments due to revised forecasts. Temperatures in southern France have been rising since Monday and could hit 40°C this weekend, according to Meteo France. ENTSO-E
On 30 September, ENTSO-E took part in the International Energy Agency (IEA) ’s High-Level Roundtable at IEA Headquarters in Paris, dedicated to managing risks from natural hazards, extreme weather, and climate change. Our System Operations Committee Chair, Olivier Arrivé, contributed ENTSO-E’s experience on risk preparedness, system resilience, and operational coordination in Europe’s interconnected grid. This dialogue with governments, the energy sector, and insurers focused on: 🔹Mapping and prioritising risks to energy infrastructure 🔹Planning and financing for a resilient energy system 🔹Practical solutions to strengthen resilience against climate-driven challenges The discussions will feed into the IEA’s ongoing workstreams on resilience and support shared efforts to make energy systems better prepared for tomorrow’s risks. At ENTSO-E, we believe that investing in resilient energy infrastructure is essential to safeguard security of supply, protect citizens, and support the energy transition. #IEA #EnergyResilience #ENTSOE #EnergySecurity #ClimateResilience

ENGIE North America Inc.
We are committed to delivering reliable, low-carbon power solutions that meet the growing demand for power — today and into the future. To support this ambition, ENGIE is accelerating its decarbonization efforts by increasing the share of renewables in its energy mix. As of 2025, ENGIE has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 41% compared to 2017, with a goal of reaching 55% by 2030 and, ultimately, Net Zero by 2045. In fact, 75% of our annual investments are now dedicated to: · Renewable energy; · Battery storage systems; and · Power networks. This strategic focus supports our ambition to reach 95 GW of installed renewable energy production and storage capacity worldwide by 2030 — up from 51 GW in 2024. In North America, ENGIE has more than 11 GW total in renewables operation or production. #CleanEnergy #EnergyTransition #NetZero #Decarbonization #SustainableInfrastructure Explore more of our clean energy expertise on our webpage: https://lnkd.in/gewE3a9q

International Water Power & Dam Construction
ETIP HYDROPOWER has released a new White Paper on hydropower’s central role in Europe’s clean energy transition. Titled “Hydropower’s Key Role in Flexibility and Storage for a Safe, Clean and Secure European Power System – Today and Tomorrow,” the publication outlines how hydropower can meet Europe’s growing need for flexibility as renewable energy expands. Highlights from the report: • Hydropower offers vast storage capacity through pumped storage, rapid ramping capability, and black start functionality to restore power after blackouts. • To unlock this potential, the sector requires stronger R&D&I investment, a level playing field free from distortions, fair remuneration for flexibility services, and streamlined permitting processes. The findings will be discussed in detail during an ETIP Hydropower webinar on 8 October. 🔗 Registration: https://lnkd.in/dfmzDGpm Download the paper: https://lnkd.in/eBV5jW6j
