📚 Today's #MondayRead is a study published in BMC Infectious Diseases examining antimicrobial resistance (#AMR) trends among common pathogens isolated from adult bloodstream and urinary tract infections in Malawi between 2020 and 2024.   💡 The analysis, based on over 2,700 isolates from seven public health facilities, found that over 54% of antimicrobial susceptibility tests showed resistance. #Fatigue remains a major long-term issue in #cancer #survivorship as published by Volker Arndt and team at #DKFZ in the British Journal of Cancer.  Fatigue is one of the most common #late #effects of cancer. It was assumed to gradually diminish after #treatment, but new findings show it often persists or reoccurs even 5–16 years later. ⚡ Key challenges ·       Fatigue is complex: physical, cognitive, and affective dimensions differ in causes and effects ·       Contributing factors include comorbidities, depression, lifestyle (e.g. inactivity, obesity, smoking), and social factors 🧩 What this study reveals ·       In the #CAESAR #study with >6,000 survivors of breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer, about one-third reported persistent fatigue ·       Physical fatigue, in particular, was associated with up to a 2.4-fold higher mortality risk DKFZ Press Release: https://lnkd.in/epaRyP3Z 🌍 Implications & outlook: Long-term #cancer #survivors need systematic fatigue screening, even many years post-treatment.
