ReDesign, ReUSe, ReGenerate : The Circular Economy In the Panel at the CII’s 20th Global Sustainability Summit, I had the pleasure of interacting with experts from diverse spheres - Mr Amit Verma (NITI Ayog), Mr Joe Phelan (World Business Council), Mr Narayan Devanathan (Dentsu), Mr Rajagopal Manohar (Novonesis) and an audience as diverse as the panel. I introduced the audience to two strong possibilities that technology and Ecosystem can offer, as our experience shows. 80% of circularity value – including upstream, resides in the design phase of the product. Digital Technologies – Digital twins / Additive manufacturing maximizes trade-offs between resource efficiencies, functionalities and product costs. There is tremendous scope for Dematerialization gains, through cross-sector coupling, with the right eco-system partnering Some of my noteworthy takeaways from my Co-Panelists are: a. Inclusivity in Sustainable transformation must encompass revitalizing (not discard) legacy assets as much as supporting marginal sections b. Bio-Fuel – enabled by Enzymes, is a viable bridge fuel and game changer c. Successful sustainable transformation has very cultural underpinnings I personally experienced a Sustainability moment. The lanyard and name tag distributed were made of recyclable cotton & paper; witnessed 1st time in my recallable experiences at events. I Compliment CII ! Greenzo Energy Wins Order from Jindal Stainless for Green Hydrogen Electrolyser Plant in Odisha Greenzo Energy India Limited has secured an order from Formerly Jindal Stainless Limited., Now Called Jsl Limited. to supply, install, and commission a green hydrogen electrolyser plant at JSL’s Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex in Jajpur, Odisha. The facility will have an annual hydrogen production capacity of 472,409 kg, with a scalable design that can be expanded to 1.5 KTPA. The green hydrogen will be used in JSL’s Bright Annealing Line and Bell Furnace, supporting the company's transition to green steel and reduced carbon emissions. I would like to share some news related to a Mega Project in the Indian Grid. “Khavda Phase‑IV Part B Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Potential Renewable Energy Zone in Khavda, Gujarat”. The 3 GW project was won by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, through its subsidiary POWERGRID South Olpad Transmission Limited, via a tariff-based competitive reverse auction with the winning bid at ₹5,566.86 million per year. Key details include: 1. A 765/400 kV GIS substation near South Olpad with two 1,500 MVA transformers. 2. Transmission lines from Vadodara and Ahmedabad to South Olpad, plus Loop-In-Loop-Out (LILO) integration. Expected commercial operation by October 15, 2028" The Khavda Phase-IV Part B transmission project is designed for very high-capacity renewable evacuation from Gujarat’s renewable energy zone. From the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) approval documents and bidding specs: Main substation capacity: 4 × 1,500 MVA ICTs at 765/400 kV GIS South Olpad Substation Total ICT capacity: 6,000 MVA Associated transmission lines: 765 kV D/C lines connecting South Olpad to major grid nodes (Vadodara, Ahmedabad) Integrated with a 220 kV switchyard for regional distribution interfacing This makes it one of the largest single-node interstate transmission additions in India’s renewable corridor, capable of handling the evacuation of ~6–7 GW of renewable generation from Khavda and nearby RE zones.
