Congratulations to our partner, Pula Foundation, for securing a collaboration with the Government of Kenya and the Kenya Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development! Earlier this year, we announced our support to Pula Foundation for the "10 Million Resilient Farmers" initiative. This partnership aims to enhance climate resilience, protecting farmers from droughts and floods that threaten their livelihoods and global food security - read more about this program through the link in the comments! #ResilientFarmers #ClimateAction #Insurance
Insuring 1 million farmers in 2027 - A milestone for climate resilience in Kenya We’re proud to announce the partnership between the Government of Kenya, Kenya Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, and Pula Foundation. This Memorandum of Understanding marks the start of a strategic partnership to strengthen the resilience of smallholder farmers through innovative agricultural insurance — beginning with Kenya’s subsidised fertilizer program. As part of the ‘10 Million Resilient Farmers’ initiative, funded by the Bayer Foundation this program will embed crop insurance directly into the government’s input support framework — protecting farmers from the impacts of extreme weather, pests, and disease. We’re excited to take this bold step with the Government of Kenya and the Pula Foundation toward a more resilient, inclusive, and climate-smart future for agriculture. Leadership Unplugged: Meeting the Next Wave of Female Scientists! For the fourth time, we had the pleasure to welcome a new cohort of the #FemaleScienceTalents program for their first face-to-face meeting in #Berlin. We support gender equity in science throughout many programs. The Female Science Talents program is a one-year program co-founded and co-funded by us and aims to support and enable 20 talented female scientists in their leadership skills. During the gathering, we delved into crucial topics such as leadership identity, career development inside and outside of academia, communication skills, and network building. One of the highlights was the Fireside Chat: “Leadership Unplugged. Lessons from Trailblazers” moderated by our Associate Director Tatjana Gust. Our new Managing Director Kyra Constanze Pauly, together with Lilian Knobel, Managing Director from Klaus Tschira Stiftung, shared invaluable personal insights on leadership, resilience, career evolution, and lessons learned. Thank you to our partner Falling Walls Foundation for your support in this journey and Julia Milbredt, Daria Leduck, Annastassia Schwan and Laura Sager for the great organization of the gathering! We are grateful that the program has evolved and we now collaborate with impactful organizations to promote gender equality in science, including The Elsevier Foundation, VolkswagenStiftung, Klaus Tschira Stiftung, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - German Research Foundation. Let’s continue to increase visibility and actively foster the career development of brilliant female science talents! In #Madagascar, healthcare access can be a challenge, leaving many children vulnerable. A dedicated group of health champions is stepping in: Community Health Workers (CHWs). They are the lifeline for children who might otherwise miss out on life-saving vaccinations. Their goal is to vaccinate at least 40,000 children by March 2026, targeting an 80 percent reduction in unvaccinated children across southern Madagascar. Despite their crucial role, they often lack the support they need to keep going. Doctors for Madagascar is partnering with us and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, as well as collaborating closely with Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and mTOMADY, to strengthen their efforts in vaccinating thousands of children in the most underserved areas. As we approach the World Health Assembly 2025, it's essential to recognize that this initiative transcends mere immunization—it's about building a sustainable healthcare system that serves everyone, everywhere. 🔗 Read how these tireless health workers are making a difference and why long-term investment in them is key to transforming healthcare in Madagascar.
