🌿 On the sustainability iconic island of Kura Kura Bali, designed around the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana - the “three causes of wellbeing and happiness” - I had the privilege to join a powerful convening to learn about the sustainable AI for our common future. The event was well attended by esteemed ministers and distinguished guests from the public, private and development sectors. It was very inspiring to learn from 𝐇. 𝐄. 𝐋𝐮𝐡𝐮𝐭 𝐁𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐣𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧, Chairman of Indonesia’s National Economic Council, about Indonesia’s ambition to become a sovereign AI leader by building domestic capacity and nurturing young AI talents. Also the impressive examples of scalable AI applications in agriculture shared by 𝐇.𝐄. 𝐍𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐇𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢, Deputy Minister for Food Affordability and Security. I enjoyed the group discussion led by Angela Chaudhuri and Biju Jacob, exploring common tools and practices contributing to a regional AI hub that strengthens climate and health resilience across Indonesia and beyond. I was very happy to share Bayer Foundation’s strategy on climate and health, what we have learnt from our ongoing AVPN Climate and Health Lighthouse Initiative, and how we aim to scale community-led innovations further with commercial and public scaling pathways. A special highlight for me was presenting a 𝐋𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐨𝐱 in collaboration with Health Innovation Exchange - HIEx to support women-led innovations in climate and health. Why is it important? Indonesia’s unique climate and health challenges - spread across more than 17000 islands - require decentralized, community-driven solutions. By empowering women innovators we are unlocking local leadership in the most vulnerable regions. And by engaging ministries early in the process, we aim to integrate these scalable innovations into Indonesia’s health system sustainably. 🙏 Heartfelt thanks to Tri Hita Karana Forum, United In Diversity Indonesia, UNDP Indonesia, Health Innovation Exchange - HIEx, H.E. Amb. Tantowi Yahya, Cherie Nursalim, Mei Fong Chin, Patricia Holly Purcell, Sara Ferrer Olivella, Pradeep Kakkattil Biju Jacob - for such an inspiring and productive convening. Terima Kasih! With my dear colleague Marendra Cahya Sadikin, we’re excited to keep building impact in Indonesia! 💪Kyra Constanze Pauly, Jana op den Winkel
