His pioneering work in sustainable chemistry, organic synthesis, and catalysis has advanced more precise, efficient, and sustainable methods for producing active medical ingredients. From maternal health and immunisations to dental care and on-the-spot diagnostics, ZimbosAbantu has reduced the distance to care from 15KM to just 3KM — a life-changing shift for families in informal settlements. Bayer Foundation at World Health Summit: Private Investments in Public Goods for Global Health 🌎 In collaboration with the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin Center for Global Health, we just hosted a session at Berlin’s World Health Summit, addressing the decline in institutional funding for global health, particularly in LMICs. The event explored the role of private sector investments in bridging funding gaps and improving health outcomes. Our Managing Director Kyra Constanze Pauly and Charite’s Beate Kampmann moderated the session. The Kaduna Women Economic Empowerment Project is our main livelihood project in #Nigeria. The goal: Increasing the incomes of 35,000 women by 30% within three years by strengthening #agriculture, #skillacquisition and #healthaccess. As part of our video series, you can get to know the incredible women who are part of the initiative. In this edition, you meet Alpha Saleh. Through training and supplies provided by Healthy Entrepreneurs she is now working as a Community Health Entrepreneur, bringing basic health services to remote areas while at the same time creating a new income stream. The Kaduna Women Economic Empowerment Project is a collaborative initiative between Aha!, Healthy Entrepreneurs, AFEX, CoAmana, Jennifer Etuh Foundation and funded by Bayer Foundation. To realize our common goal of increasing incomes by 30% for women farmers and households in remote areas of Kaduna, our partner organizations work together with the support of the Kaduna State Government to provide training and resources for women to improve their agricultural productivity, access to health services, and develop entrepreneurial skills. For 30 million farmers in rural India, survival depends on diesel pumps, which are costly and responsible for 10% of the country’s carbon emissions. Audrey Fillon set out to change that. Today, she is one of 15 winners of the Bayer Foundation Women Entrepreneurs Award 2025, delivered in collaboration with Impact Hub Network. Through her social enterprise, Oorja Development Solutions Limited, Audrey is replacing diesel with more affordable, solar-powered irrigation, milling, and cooling services. Her pay-per-use model means even the smallest farmers can access clean energy without upfront costs. The impact is already life-changing: incomes up by 27%, more diverse crops grown, and over 3,358 tonnes of CO₂ emissions saved. Our partnership with the We Share Forward Foundation aims to address this issue through the "Women Entrepreneurs Funding" initiative. The initiative is pooling philanthropic capital to scale enterprises that tackle health, food security, climate resilience, and economic empowerment. Innovative financing models like fair impact loans, convertible loans, and equity arrangements are offered designed to meet the needs of the enterprises. We Share Forward Foundation's "Revolving Grants" mechanism reinvests revolving funds into more women-led enterprises, thereby maximizing the impact of each philanthropic donation into the pool.
