Let’s hack! - Der Rad-Daten-Hackathon in Potsdam ist gestartet 🧑💻🚴♂️ Zwei Tage lang dreht sich beim Rad-Daten-Hackathon mit der Landeshauptstadt Potsdam alles um Daten, Kreativität und Mobilität. Im Potsdam Lab kommen Entwicklerinnen, Designerinnen, Studierende und Radbegeisterte zusammen, um mit offenen Daten innovative Ideen für eine fahrradfreundlichere Stadt zu entwickeln. Freitag, 17. Oktober Heute ging es um 10 Uhr los mit dem Ankommen der Teilnehmenden, Check-In, Begrüßung sowie spannende Impulsvorträgen und Challenge-Pitches: 💡 Nutzung von und Umgang mit Radverkehrsdaten in Hamburg Ludger Kühnhenrich – Behörde für Verkehr und Mobilitätswende Hamburg Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg 💡Von Rohdaten zu interaktiven Prototypen – Projekte der TSB Anna Meide – Technologiestiftung Berlin 💡Challenge 01 – Urbane Datenplattform Paul-Ole Saalfeld und Andrés Delgado Schumann – Stadtwerke Potsdam GmbH 💡Challenge 02 – DB Rad+ App Cindy Ortloff und Klara Gruber – Deutsche Bahn / DB InfraGO 💡 Challenge 03 – Sensorik und Basteln Frank Hübner (Smart City Landeshauptstadt Potsdam) Jetzt finden sich die Teilnehmenden zu Teams zusammen, um ihre Ideen zu entwickeln und in ersten Prototypen zu gießen. Der Nachmittag und Abend stehen ganz im Zeichen des Tüftelns, Codens und Gestaltens – mit vielen kreativen Köpfen, die gemeinsam an smarten Lösungen arbeiten. Gegen 23:00 Uhr endet der erste Tag mit einem Blick auf die nächsten Schritte. Samstag, 18. Oktober Morgen geht es dann in den Feinschliff und die Präsentation der Ergebnisse. Der zweite Tag startet mit einem gemeinsamen Frühstück sowie einen Kick-Off zum Hackday Teil 2 mit Pitch-Vorbereitung. Anschließend stellen die Teams ihre Ergebnisse unserer Jury um Torsten von Einem, Inga Schlichting, Andreas Becker und Otto Richter vor und werden prämiert. Zum Abschluss gibt es dann einen Ausblick und Networking. Wir sind super gespannt an welchen innovativen und datenbasierten Lösungen gearbeitet wird. A warm welcome to our new startups! 🚀 This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our new startup teams incl. Nikolaus Pinger from trail, Dr. Anna Güntner, Vladimir Bobrov & Irina Zhernova from Eclarity.io and Mathijs Vanhaverbeke & Piotr Płatuski from Sentigrate to the DB mindbox family! 💡 Three inspiring teams joined us to kick off their collaboration journey with Deutsche Bahn - bringing fresh solutions, bold energy, and a shared passion for shaping the future of mobility and infrastructure. Our onboarding days were packed with great moments, meaningful conversations, and lots of inspiration: ✨ We started with a relaxed get-to-know-each-other session, where everyone also shared their superpower 🦸♀️ - from analytical minds to creative problem-solvers and visionary thinkers. 🏗️ A true highlight: our exclusive tour through the ICE maintenance facility of DB Fernverkehr in Berlin-Rummelsburg, offering fascinating insights into Deutsche Bahn’s maintenance world. Thanks to our guide Hans-Dieter! 🍳 Together, we also enjoyed a team cooking evening — because collaboration often starts best over good food and laughter. 🏢 The startups got an introduction to DB mindbox, explored our co-working space, and learned more about the Deutsche Bahn ecosystem they’ll soon be innovating within. 🤝 A big thanks to our coaching partner Mateusz Matuszewski from betahaus for joining the session and supporting our startups on their upcoming journey. 💬 And special appreciation to Sascha Pfleging from our alumni startup Omnora for sharing their honest experiences and insights from their own time in the program. Transforming How Railway Infrastructure Is Built 🚆 At DB mindbox, we believe that the future of railway construction will be shaped through collaboration. We are working with startups to co-create and improve digital and data-driven solutions that help make rail construction safer, faster, and more resource-efficient. Our Future of Railway Construction 2026 program provides the space to test these solutions in real-world environments together with Deutsche Bahn and external experts. 🌍 Rethinking Construction Processes How can we plan, build, and maintain rail infrastructure with greater efficiency and lower environmental impact? We are looking for approaches that optimize workflows, integrate digital tools, or apply modular and sustainable construction methods. Data-driven planning, AI-supported scheduling, or circular material use are examples that can make processes more consistent and transparent. 📐 Measurement & Automated BIM Modeling Precise and up-to-date digital representations of construction sites are essential for effective project execution. We seek technologies that enable automated and accurate data capture - such as sensor-based systems, drones, or AI-driven BIM integration - to reduce manual effort and improve coordination between field and design teams. 💡 About the Program Selected startups will work in close collaboration with specialists from Deutsche Bahn and 12 key players from the construction industry to pilot and optimize their solutions in practical construction environments. Bits & Bikes: Wo Daten auf Pedale treffen 🚴♀️💡 Nur noch wenige Tage bis zum Rad-Daten-Hackathon in und mit der Landeshauptstadt Potsdam – und die Spannung steigt! Gemeinsam mit starken Partnern vereinen wir am 17. & 18. Oktober Innovation, Daten und urbane Mobilität. Unser Ziel: den Radverkehr durch datenbasierte Ansätze besser verstehen, intelligenter planen und für alle noch attraktiver gestalten. Doch worum geht es eigentlich? Die Challenges im Überblick: 🔍 Challenge 1: Urbane Datenplattform Die Urbane Datenplattform (UDP) der Stadt Potsdam befindet sich seit diesem Jahr im Pilotbetrieb. Als digitales Herzstück der Smart City bündelt sie vielfältige Daten aus Bereichen wie Versorgung, Gesundheit, Bauwesen, Mobilität und Wirtschaft. Beim Hackathon stellt die UDP ausgewählte Datensätze bereit – und wir fragen: Wie lassen sich diese Daten gezielt nutzen, um den Radverkehr zu fördern? 📱 Challenge 2: Rad+ App Bereits fast 20 Millionen Kilometer wurden in Potsdam und Berlin mit Rad+ gesammelt – doch da geht noch mehr! Wie können wir die Nutzung der App weiter steigern, etwa durch neue Features, spannende Inhalte oder clevere Kombinationen mit anderen Verkehrsdaten? Ziel ist es, fundierte Aussagen über das Radverkehrsverhalten und die Nutzung von Straßen und Wegen zu gewinnen. 🛠️ Challenge 3: Sensorik & Basteln Potsdam setzt als smarte Stadt auf Sensorik – zum Beispiel im Verkehr, um Umgebungsdaten zu erfassen und auszuwerten. Doch welche Sensoren könnten zusätzlich eingesetzt werden, um interessante Informationen für Radfahrende zu liefern? Exploring New Approaches in Railway Construction 🚆 The railway construction sector is moving toward safer, more efficient, and data-driven work environments. Through the Future of Railway Construction 2026 program, we are inviting startups to develop practical solutions in two of four focus areas: automation and robotics, and digital construction processes: 🤖 Human-Centered Robotics on Construction Sites Railway construction remains physically demanding. We are looking for robotic or assistive technologies that help reduce physical strain, support repetitive or heavy tasks, and improve on-site safety and ergonomics. These solutions can include mobile robots, exoskeletons, or semi-automated tools designed to collaborate with human workers. 🧱 Digital Construction Documentation Reliable and transparent data is essential for effective project management. We seek tools that make documentation easier and more connected — bridging the gap between field operations and office workflows. Examples include mobile apps for real-time data capture, automated reporting systems, or seamless BIM integrations that improve accuracy and communication.
