  • Meet the team: Lorenz Bucher   Lorenz Bucher is a cornerstone of our Sennheiser Mobility team. As Senior Audio Software Architect and Co-Team Lead, he has been shaping our sound since Sennheiser Mobility’s official founding in 2019. He has been part of Sennheiser since 2017. With an MSc in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from ETH Zürich, Lorenz’ lifelong passion for audio has guided every step of his career. While at ETH, he focused his studies on audio and digital signal processing, paving the way for a dynamic professional journey. In his early career, he worked on professional real-time audio software and developed immersive audio tech for consumer soundbars before ultimately joining the pioneering Sennheiser AMBEO team and later the Sennheiser Mobility team. A typical day at Sennheiser Mobility? There really isn’t one! In a compact, dynamic team, he seamlessly blends technical deep dives, DSP optimization, management, and strategic decision-making. He thrives on challenges, supports his teammates wherever he can, and is driven by a deep commitment to software quality and robust development processes. What keeps him motivated? “What I enjoy most is working together with such a tight-knit team of great human beings. In addition, I get to develop products both horizontally and vertically.” Lorenz is known for his perseverance, creativity, and passion, and for his remarkable ability to bring people together. Music is at the heart of everything he does: “I have a soul made of Jazz and a heart that beats for Alternative & Indie Rock.” Beyond this, he also has a strong passion for good Pop songs, and Synthwave is his soundtrack of choice while coding. Off the clock, you’ll find him cooking, traveling, learning languages, writing and performing music, and DIYing all kinds of audio equipment. Thank you, Lorenz, for your dedication, creativity, and passion. We’re proud to have you as part of the Sennheiser Mobility team!

As part of the event, our Mobility team demonstrated the future of in-car audio in three vehicles generously provided by our partners: 🔊 CUPRA Formentor – A dynamic crossover featuring a fully integrated Sennheiser sound system, optimized for immersive spatial audio. The system leverages proprietary algorithms to deliver precise sound staging and clarity. 🔊 smart #5 – This electric SUV showcases how the Sennheiser Signature Sound System transforms the cabin into a high-fidelity listening environment and ensures consistent audio performance across all seating positions in a 20-speaker architecture. 🔊 Morgan Plus Four – A fusion of heritage and innovation. Despite its open-top design and lightweight build, the Morgan Plus Four is equipped with a discreet yet powerful Sennheiser system, demonstrating our ability to deliver premium sound in acoustically challenging environments. Each vehicle’s sound system was engineered to highlight the versatility of our software-driven audio solutions, which rely on minimal hardware and advanced algorithms to create immersive, natural soundscapes. The systems are designed to be lightweight, energy-efficient, and seamlessly integrated into modern automotive platforms. The event was not only a celebration of Sennheiser’s legacy but also a showcase of how we’re shaping the future of mobility through sound. We’re proud to be driving innovation in automotive audio and grateful to all the media professionals who joined us for this milestone! How loud is too loud?     At Sennheiser Mobility, sound is about more than technology—it’s also about creating memorable moments on the road. But with all the power modern systems can deliver, we know it’s important to avoid listening to music at volume levels that are likely to damage your ears.    The World Health Organization has shared some clear guidance on these levels and time limits:  🗣️ A normal conversation at around 60 dBA is safe without time limits.  🎧 80 dBA should not exceed 40 hours per week. That’s about the maximum volume most smartphones allow through headphones.  🚗 90 dBA is limited to 4 hours per week, which is roughly the peak level of a typical in-car audio amplifier.  🔊 At 100 dBA, exposure should not be longer than 20 minutes per week. This is like being in the front row at a concert, so ear protection is a must in this case.    If you’re curious about your own habits, dBA measurement apps are an easy way to check the volume levels you listen at. And if you enjoy turning up the volume, make sure to give your ears regular breaks. Protecting your hearing today ensures that you can enjoy great sound tomorrow.

  • Immersive sound meets creative energy in Hamburg 🎶 As part of Sennheiser’s 80th anniversary, we brought together the up-and-coming producers and artists shaping the Future of Audio for a special event at VILLA VIVA Hamburg—hosted by Sennheiser Mobility, Pro Audio, and AMBEO, as well as Neumann and Viva con Agua. The morning session featured a panel on immersive audio with Veronique Larcher, Ph.D. (Mobility), Kai Detlefsen (AMBEO), and special guests from the local musician and music production community. In the afternoon, Kai and Felix Lau (Neumann) led a hands-on Sennheiser session for attendees on producing immersive audio tracks in a Neumann-equipped pop-up immersive studio. Afterward, they were invited to bring their original tracks to a smart #5, equipped with our immersive in-car audio system, to check how they sound in the car. To round out the sessions, rising local artists performed their music live, powered by Sennheiser Pro Audio gear. From the studio to the street, we explored how immersive sound can elevate music, mobility, and culture. Meet the Team: Julian Grosse   Julian has been part of Sennheiser Mobility for two years as Senior Audio Algorithm Engineer, where he applies his deep knowledge of acoustics and signal processing to create outstanding immersive in-car audio experiences.    His journey started early: first at the piano, later experimenting with synthesizers. “I quickly realized I wasn’t the best musician.” he says with a smile. “But I was fascinated by how these devices actually create sound.” That curiosity led him to study Hearing Technology and Audiology at the University of Oldenburg in Germany, where he went on to complete a PhD in Signal Processing, Virtual Acoustics, and Binaural Psychoacoustics.    After a few years of industrial research, Julian returned to audio, his true passion, and joined Sennheiser Mobility to develop the algorithms that make our immersive in-car sound systems come alive.    What does his day look like? A mix of coding and critical listening: “I spend a lot of time testing proof of concepts on the computer and in cars.” Basically, he ensures the algorithms don’t just work on paper but actually deliver an immersive experience behind the wheel.    What excites him most about working at Sennheiser Mobility is the collaborative spirit: “It’s like solving a puzzle together. Everyone brings their expertise, and suddenly all the pieces form a picture that we’re proud to share with audio enthusiasts around the world.”    Outside of work, his biggest passion is enjoying the great outdoors. He likes climbing, cycling, or hiking in the mountains. And when indoors, you’ll often find him tinkering with some technical DIY projects. His taste in music is as diverse as his interests: from electronic to rock to jazz. “What matters most is that the music moves me,” he says.    At Sennheiser Mobility, we value Julian not only for his expertise but also for his passionate interest and curiosity about new technologies as well as his outside the box thinking. Thank you for being part of our team and helping us shape immersive audio innovation!
