  • How can businesses create and measure true social impact? 🌍 Yesterday, at ISS A/S’s headquarters in Copenhagen, we welcomed more than 130 leaders and sustainability professionals from large companies and organisations at our annual Social Sustainability event to discuss this important question. Some key insights from the event: 👉 Guy Battle, CEO of Social Value Portal, explained that social value is the contribution and impact an organisation has on society - and that it can be measured in monetary terms. Social Value Portal has supported ISS in demonstrating that, in Spain alone, ISS has generated $1.2 billion of social value, including employing more than 2,400 people with disabilities. 👉 Stephen Cluskey, CEO of Mobility Mojo, emphasised that inclusion begins with accessibility - and accessibility affects all of us. Today, 1.3 billion people worldwide live with accessibility needs, and evidence shows that companies inclusive of people with disabilities consistently perform better. 👉 Liz Benison, Group CPTO at ISS, shared why the “S” in ESG is a superpower for ISS: with 320,000 employees worldwide, ISS can truly make a social impact by providing a sustainable income, education, and development opportunities - in many cases, lifting people out of poverty. A heartfelt thank you for your participation and great insights: Kenny Fredsted Stoltenborg, Yuli Kim (she/her), Gail Irvine, Elke Kux, Margot Slattery, Guy Battle, Stephen Cluskey, and Liz Benison. Together, we can drive meaningful social change that benefits people, businesses, and communities worldwide ✨. #SocialSustainability #SustainableBusiness #SocialValue

Thanks to Ming’s quick thinking and swift action the baby made a full recovery, leaving a lasting impact on the family. “I called an ambulance straight away and then remembered there was a paediatrician living in the building. I found him immediately, and he came to provide emergency care before the ambulance arrived. The father was overwhelmed, so I stayed calm and focused on doing what was needed.”    Ming’s dedication to Villa Lotto’s residents goes far beyond security – he creates a safe, welcoming space where people feel at home.  Read Ming’s full story here: https://lnkd.in/daRhE_Kq #APlaceToBeYou #PeopleMakePlaces #WeAreISSPeople

  • We’re excited to announce our new global partnership with Social Value Portal! 🙌 What is the positive impact on a local Australian community when we hire 50 new employees from marginalised groups? Or when we enter a partnership with a local supplier in Chile who sources environmentally friendly vegetables? These are the types of social actions the new partnership aims to assess across our 60 operating markets. By adopting Social Value Portal’s Global TOM (Themes, Outcomes, Measures) System, we will be able to measure and report our social impact across borders through a unified metric for social value: the International Dollar. Margot Slattery, Global Head of Social Sustainability and Inclusion at ISS, says: “The social sustainability agenda is rapidly gaining momentum, prompting many of our global customers to prioritise social actions in their strategies and concrete tenders. This increases the need for ISS to provide global data and adopt a shared language to clearly demonstrate the social impact of our initiatives across borders, expressed as a monetary value. By translating social value into monetary terms, we believe we can bring social sustainability even more to the forefront of global business.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/dedXEAE8 #SocialSustainability #SustainableBusiness #SocialValue

  • At ISS, we have a mission of Creating SAFE Spaces Together and one of the pillars to do this is focusing on learnings - not just from injuries or environmental damage, but from the moments that could have been. A ‘Near Miss’ is an unplanned event that didn’t result in harm to people or environment but had the potential to. These events are powerful learning opportunities and we instruct and encourage our placemakers to report them so that we can investigate. Reporting on a Near Miss provides valuable insights that might overwise have been lost and reinforce that safety is about prevention, not just response. We want to build environments where safety is not reactive - it’s embedded and continuously improved. Włodzimierz Kaczmarzyk, Global HSE Manager: “In my experience, what separates a good safety culture from a truly exceptional one lies in a willingness to learn. Reporting and investigating near-miss events show a commitment to protecting our colleagues and clients, and this proactive mindset is what makes a real impact.” Let’s keep learning and keep Creating SAFE Spaces Together. #CreatingSafeSpacesTogether #NearMiss #SafetyCulture
