Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of hosting our event 'Drinks, Stablecoins & Digital Assets' at Matrikel1. The program featured an insightful panel with Mads Clemmensen (Digital Assets Lead at Danske Bank), Thuc Hoang (Founder & CEO of Firi), and Henrik A. (Co-founder of PixelPai), moderated by Jakob Mikkel Hansen (CEO of Nordic Blockchain Association). Together, they explored the many ways stablecoins and digital assets are transforming finance, from driving faster, more efficient payments to opening new investment opportunities, and discussed how collaboration between companies dealing with blockchain technology and digital assets and traditional financial institutions can unlock growth and innovation in the Nordic region. Only hours later, Thursday morning, the announcement came about the collaboration between the nine major European banks: Danske Bank, ING, Banca Sella, KBC Bank & Verzekering, DekaBank, UniCredit, SEB, CaixaBank, and Raiffeisen Bank International AG, with their plan to launch a MiCAR-compliant Euro-stablecoin in 2026, with the momentum appearing to have reached new, exciting heights.
