𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐬 🚀 Our single-photon sources just got even better. After our recent efficiency improvements, we measured counts in excess of 20 million high-quality single photons every second. This corresponds to more than 40% efficiency into the optical fibre, ready to use for customers. 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 Sofus Budtz, 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬! 🌍 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝?     I'm from Buresø, a small town near Copenhagen. I obtained my bachelor's and master's degrees in physics at the Niels Bohr Institute, where I wrote my thesis on making novel hybrid semiconductor-superconductor qubits hosting quantum dots. After graduating, I joined the Microsoft Quantum team in Lyngby to work on characterising topological qubit material.    🐦 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰?     Sparrow was small when I joined, but the opportunity to grow a quantum startup that had just started commercialising research was one I couldn't pass up. At Microsoft Quantum, I’d seen firsthand how productive the "quantum industry" could become—and how different it could be from traditional research environments. I wanted to bring that mindset to Sparrow.    📷 𝐀𝐧𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐛𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬?     You could say I'm a collector of hobbies. I try new ones often! I'm currently enjoying analogue photography, fencing, and tabletop roleplaying games. I also read sci-fi and fantasy (now working my way through the Discworld books).    🥖 𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝?   It might sound boring, but nothing beats freshly baked bread! Great exposure for Sparrow at the Danish Industry annual meeting with 1000 delegates. Sparrow was nominated for the DI Price and Peter Lodahl made an excellent figure in front of the crowd. It turned out that the vote was already cast and we came at a second place.

That’s why we were thrilled to welcome a group of 20 brilliant girls from High5Girls to our labs last week to explore the world of quantum photonics. Our colleagues Sissel and Iyad introduced the group to Sparrow Quantum’s core technology, gave a tour of our new labs, and gave the girls a little taste of how quantum technology can be utilized in practice 💡 It was fantastic to meet so many cool, inquisitive girls interested in quantum science and to collaborate with an organization with such an important mission. On Day 2, the talented Dennis Buchleitner joined to share with us the world of spoken word and slam poetry. Together, we flexed our creative-writing muscles and each contributed one line to create 𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎, a poem about what it means to be a Sparrow.
