🚨 Riyadh-based credit infrastructure startup Orbii | أوربي has raised $3.6 million in Seed funding, led by Prosus Ventures with participation from VentureSouq, DASH Ventures, Taz Investment, and Sanabil Investments 500 MENA. Founded in 2024 by Nauman Ali, Nasara Mughal, and guillaume kieffer, Orbii is an AI-powered embedded lending platform that enables banks, fintechs, and B2B ecosystems to launch and scale SME credit products. The platform integrates directly with financial systems such as POS and ERP, using machine learning to underwrite, disburse, and monitor loans in real time. “We envision a MENA where every business can access credit instantly, embedded within the systems and workflows they already use. Our Managing Partner, Mohamed Khodeir محمد خضير, during his time as CEO of General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), discussed the latest developments in the land allocation system under Law No. 17 and its pivotal role in boosting direct investment in Egypt. He clarified that the “Competent Authority” refers to the original landowner, while GAFI (General Authority for Investment) assumes a dual role: - Promoting investment opportunities through the unified Investment Map. - Overseeing and approving allocation procedures in coordination with the competent authorities. From last June until today, more than 800 land plots have been allocated nationwide representing 800 new investment projects. This unprecedented achievement reflects the success of the system after overcoming significant past challenges. Flend, an Egyptian SME lending startup, has secured $3 million in a seed round via a mix of equity and debt funding to expand its operations, hire more staff, and forge new partnerships. 🤑 The round was led by Egypt Ventures, with participation from Camel Ventures, Sukna Ventures, Plus VC (+VC), Banque Misr, and family offices including El Sewedy and Baalbaki. MSMEDA and local banks provided debt financing. 🤝 Flend is licensed by Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority and covers its entire loan process electronically, from onboarding and credit scoring to disbursement and collections.
