In July, the US Environmental Protection Agency proposed a plan to delete its scientific finding recognizing that greenhouse gases are harmful to human health, with the goal of making cars less efficient and more costly to fuel. That plan went up for public comment last month, and the public comment period closes in two days, on September 22.

Georgia BRIGHT, a statewide initiative to deliver affordable solar, kicked off its “No-Cost Solar Plan” in Atlanta yesterday, giving qualified homeowners a shot at roughly 400 fully prepaid rooftop-solar systems with zero upfront or maintenance costs. However, Georgia Bright’s No-Cost Solar Plan may lose its $156 million in grant money if the EPA steals back the Solar for All program’s entire $7 billion, which funded it.

The Environmental Protection Agency today announced plans to roll back the scientific finding that climate change harms humans, with the intent to also rollback regulations that make cars more efficient. But this will also raise your fuel costs by $.76/gallon, according to the very same people who made today’s announcement.

EPA’s chief saboteur, Lee Zeldin, announces plan to delete climate science

In an Orwellian move, the Chief Saboteur of the Environmental Protection Agency, oil industry plant Lee Zeldin announced plans to delete the EPA’s endangerment finding today, which is the EPA’s official finding recognizing the scientific reality that climate change is harmful to human health. And he’s doing it so he can raise your fuel costs, letting the oil industry extract more money from your already-strained pocketbook.

(Update: Even the Energy Department’s own numbers acknowledge this rollback will cost you money, in the form of higher gas prices by $.76/gal)

US Automakers are planning to ask Mr. Trump to retain President Biden’s EPA exhaust rules, in the face of signs that Mr. Trump might try to reverse them. If the rules are reversed, it would cost Americans hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of deaths per year.

Trump says he’ll end the EV mandate. The only problem: there isn’t one.

At tonight’s Republican National Convention speech, Donald Trump declared that he’ll “end the electric vehicle mandate.” The only problem is, there is no electric vehicle mandate.

The regulations he’s talking about are probably the most recent EPA regulations, which notably do not mandate electric vehicles at all. The EPA has finalized its proposed 2027-2032 emissions rule, which is expected to result in a large increase in zero emission vehicle sales as vehicle exhaust limits rise rapidly through the end of the decade, on top of a separate rule yesterday from DoE about EV mpg-equivalents. Both rules were softened from their original proposals just like automakers asked for, but the largest automaker lobbyist is still complaining.

Ford, Cummins and others break with industry to support strong EPA truck rule

The EPA is currently finalizing new rules to limit truck emissions, and a group of manufacturers including Ford, Cummins, BorgWarner and Eaton has broken with the industry to support the upcoming “Phase 3” heavy duty emissions rules, while the rest of the industry, led by Volvo and Daimler, continues to lobby against them.
