Splitter o divisores pticos
Permite la derivacin de la seal ptica de su ingreso, hacia dos o ms fibras de sus salidas.
Es un elemento pasivo y es fundamental para la construccin de las redes PON.
La atenuacin que se produce a la seal es IMPORTANTE.
Hay que tener en cuenta a la hora del diseo de la red.
Atenuacin = 10log (1/N) donde N es el nmero de salidas del divisor
Hay dos tipo de construccin
Fused Biconic Taper (FBT)
- Peor uniformidad de IL (insertion Loss) (Perdida por atravesar otro material)
- Menor Costo
-No se recomienda en splitters superiores a 1:4
Planar Lightwave Circuit PLC
- Mejor uniformidad IL
- Mayor costo
- Recomendable para todos los splitters

Splitter Fused Biconic Taper (FBT)
Es la unin de dos fibras independientes, los claddings de las fibras son fundidos
en una pequea regin.
El splitter se monta en un vidrio o sustrato de cuarzo, dentro de un tubo metlico.
