Faculty Development
Research Impact & Open Publishing
Location
VIMS Information Technology ClassroomIn this workshop we will cover how you can boost your scholarly visibility and research impact through ORCiD, SciVal, and Open Publishing. ORCiD provides a unique digital identifier that distinguishes you from other researchers and integrates seamlessly with publishers, funders, and institutions. SciVal is a powerful analytics tool that provides insights into research performance, collaboration opportunities, and global trends. Open publishing, is an open access model, that makes scholarly research available online without cost or access restrictions, allowing users to read, download, and share the work - therefore increasing its impact.
In this workshop, faculty and graduate students will learn how to create and manage your ORCiD profile, connect it with your publications, and leverage it to increase the visibility and impact of your work. We will introduce SciVal’s features, including benchmarking, collaboration mapping, and topic analysis, and provide an overview of open publishing and creating OERs and discuss the benefits to this publishing model in higher education. We will introduce attendees to the WM Press and how they can participate in open publishing.
