  • Heavy machinery worth €500,000 still relies on paper manuals. We just led Spogen.ai's pre-seed round to bring AI assistants into tractor cabins across Europe. Read more about Spogen and our investment here: https://lnkd.in/eACjtyR3 Their embedded AI assistant helps operators understand complex equipment, delivering: - 42% faster operator training - 27% fewer errors - 68% reduction in support calls The founders Natalia Leinonen, Joonas Koivuniemi, Henri Auvinen, Juha Lemmetti bring proven industrial tech experience and existing partnerships with Lännen Tractors, NHK-keskus, and MTC Flextek. The team's AR/VR background positions them to build the machines of the future - perfect fit for FOV's spatial computing thesis - making machine interactions more intuitive today while building toward tomorrow's immersive interfaces. The next iPhone moment may not come from Silicon Valley. Forget faster phones or bigger screens. We’re entering an era where humans and machines interact in 3D, physical space, and Europe might just lead the charge. In this episode, Dave Haynes (FOV Ventures) breaks down: -Why 2D screens are holding us back -The “ChatGPT moment” coming for robotics -How Europe can own the next wave of computing -Why timing + conviction beats hype every time If you care about spatial computing, AI, robotics or just the future, this one’s a must-listen. Listen now: https://lnkd.in/d-GeGZCf

  • The future is officially spatial and intelligent. Google I/O 2025 showcased significant progress in areas directly aligned with FOV. Notable developments: - Android XR glasses with AR UI powered by Gemini AI - Project Astra's "world model" enhancing visual understanding capabilities - Real-time AI camera sharing expanding to Search and iOS - Samsung's Project Moohan launching as the first Android XR platform device These announcements show the ongoing convergence of spatial computing, XR, and AI - Google has just put its considerable weight behind this vision. For the founders in our portfolio, this means growing opportunities as the ecosystem matures. And for us, it reinforces our mission to back the pioneering teams building this spatial, intelligent future.

  • We invested in Flow Computing last year when they made some pretty wild claims about speeding up CPUs by 100x. And now they just proved it works! Their new processor tech just passed its first major real-world test. - Flow's tech works like adding "express lanes" to CPU highways - It identifies traffic jams in processing and creates shortcuts - It works with ANY processor architecture As an early investor in this Finnish powerhouse, we're excited to see them proving what seemed impossible. Their compiler just entered Alpha testing and is already showing how their solution drastically reduces processing loops. Finland continues its legacy of tech innovation! From Nokia phones to Flow's PPU, the legendary Finnish "sisu" (grit) delivers again. 🇫🇮 Congratulations to Timo Valtonen, Jussi Roivainen, Martti and the entire Flow Computing team!

  • Our own Dave Haynes was on EUVC this week with Andreas Munk Holm talking about where computing goes after mobile and the tech FOV is actively investing in. Listen out for -- - Discussion on how voice is becoming a primary interface. - Dave's examples of how AR glasses are already transforming workflows. - How VR is enabling human-robot collaboration. Around the 30-minute mark, Dave explains why we think frontier tech investment creates better returns than the crowded SaaS space. Whether you're a founder building in this space or an investor looking at where the next wave of innovation is coming give it a listen: https://lnkd.in/erWA4tHP

What will happen when AI steps into the physical world? Our partner David Ripert just joined an exceptional panel with - Michael Fisher Isabelle Blanchot Jenny Read Rory Daniels - at techUK's Future Visions series to explore exactly that - the rapidly emerging field of Physical AI. Alongside experts from ARIA, Enchanted Tools, and the University of Manchester, David discussed how intelligent physical systems are already transforming healthcare, construction, and transportation. The session covered: - Latest breakthroughs in AI-powered robotics - Human-machine collaboration evolution - Ethical challenges of AI systems that move and make decisions in the real world - The UK's position in the global race for intelligent physical systems If you missed it, you can catch the full recording on techUK's website: https://lnkd.in/e5AF2D7c

  • "Everyone told us to stay in stealth mode. We did the opposite." In deep tech - most engineers want to perfect their product before saying a word to anyone. This is backwards, says Jussi Mäkinen. As CMO at Distance Technologies (and previously at Varjo), Jussi's seen firsthand how European deep tech founders shoot themselves in the foot by hiding away while American companies grab all the attention, talent, and funding. His take? You need marketing MOST when you don't have a product yet. We just published a conversation with Jussi where he breaks down: - Why your first marketing job is internal - getting your own team crystal clear on what you're building - How to talk about your tech before it's ready (without BS'ing anyone) - Why your marketing person should be in customer meetings, not hiding behind a desk - The simple test to know if you've hired the right marketing leader If you're building something that won't exist for years but need money and talent now, this is probably worth 5 minutes of your time. • Exciting news! Jeremy Dalton joins FOV Ventures' Edge Network Jeremy brings invaluable perspective from his time leading PwC's XR division and his background in finance during the 2008 crisis. His rare ability to speak both C-suite finance and emerging technology languages makes him a perfect addition to our expert network. Perfect timing too - Jeremy's second edition of "Reality Check" launches June 3rd with significant new material on XR/AI convergence. As the enterprise XR landscape evolves in 2025, Jeremy's expertise on business problem centricity, incremental integration, and geographic opportunism will help our portfolio companies navigate an increasingly complex technology landscape. • IXI has raised $36.5 million in Series A funding to develop the world’s first autofocus glasses - adaptive, elegant eyewear powered by real-time eye-tracking and dynamic lens technology. We're part of the round led by Plural, with participation from Tesi, Heartcore Capital, byFounders, Eurazeo, Tiny Supercomputer Investment Company, and existing investors including Amazon Alexa Fund and others. Why we’re excited: -- The technology uses ultra-low-power infrared sensors embedded in the lenses to track eye convergence, enabling dynamic adjustment of liquid crystal lenses in real time with all-day battery life. -- IXI’s design-centric approach ensures the glasses are stylish and indistinguishable from premium fashion frames, redefining eyewear as a tech- accessory. -- The company’s founders, Niko Eiden (CEO) and Ville Miettinen (Chief Algorithm Officer), bring deep expertise from their previous mixed reality venture, Varjo Eyewear is a natural next step in the evolution of computing and wearables. IXI is well-positioned to lead this shift by bringing autofocus glasses with advanced optics and eye-tracking technology to the market. Dave Haynes Petri Rajahalme Sointu Karjalainen David Ripert
