Good news! Outokumpu is kicking off a new collaboration with GRUNDFOS, a Danish company leading in advanced pump and water solutions, on green steel. Already this year, approximately 90% of the stainless steel used in Grundfos’ energy-efficient and water-saving pump solutions will be Circle Green, with up to 93% lower carbon footprint compared to the global industry average. “We share the same ambition with our long-term customer on committing to Science-Based Targets and decarbonization goals, and we are happy to support their next step in reducing emissions from the company’s entire supply chain and solutions”, says Jörg Müller, Head of Sales for Stainless Europe at Outokumpu. Exciting news to share! Outokumpu’s metal powder business for additive manufacturing is expanding into the aerospace and aviation industry. We have delivered the industry-first batch of a new stainless steel powder grade for a unique 3D printing application – a jointly engineered prototype of a heat exchanger component for the aerospace sector. “We’re committed to accelerating circular business models for high tech stainless steel applications. While we focus on our expertise in creating new recipes for metal powders, we rely on our ecosystem of engineering partners to create end-products according to customer specifications. During the EIT RawMaterials Summit in Brussels, we’ve had vital discussions with the European Commission and other stakeholders on Europe’s competitiveness and self-sufficiency regarding critical raw materials and circular economy.   Today the discussion continues on sustainable mining in Europe. Together with Greenland Resources Inc., Outokumpu recently signed a ten-year off-take agreement to ensure access to one of the critical raw materials, molybdenum, needed for sustainable and cost competitive stainless steel production.   Greenland Resources will be able to supply 25% of Europe’s current molybdenum demand, and Outokumpu is the largest consumer in Europe.
