This new study, “Mapping Pension Funds’ Attitudes to Venture & Growth in Europe,” made by European Women in VC, highlights the huge funding gap that is hindering Europe's growth 🎯 European pension funds manage over €3 trillion. Today, only 0.12% flows into venture and growth, the arena where the next generation of climate, health, and digital leaders is being built. Redirecting even 1–2% would unlock tens of billions to scale European breakthroughs. Europe has both the talent, research, and innovation, but we lack in funding, which forces many startups and scale-ups overseas. Our portfolio company Westra Materials (formerly n-ink) has secured 42 million SEK (3.8M€) to take the next steps towards a PFAS-free industrial future 🌱 🚀 This funding enables a ramp-up in production to meet the customer demand for their conductive polymers. Westra Materials (formerly n-ink) was the winner of our Velocity challenge and secured an investment of 1M€ at the time.
