Small gains in availability, fuel use or logistics can make a big commercial difference offshore.⚓️ Offshore operations face tight margins, remote working conditions and complex logistics. Downtime is costly, fuel is a major expense, and keeping assets available in harsh environments requires constant attention. These pressures make practical, short-term improvements extremely valuable. Our latest article outlines three pragmatic responses: optimise operations with data and predictive maintenance, target electrification where it delivers clear gains and use flexible commercial models to increase utilisation. These are not theoretical fixes but steps that engineers, operations teams and commercial leads can apply now. Wärtsilä brings engineering know-how, systems integration and lifecycle services to help turn these approaches into reliable, repeatable outcomes in the field. Check out the full article for concrete examples and key questions teams should consider today. https://wartsi.ly/3Ks67wQ Wärtsilä Marine | #PredictiveMaintenance #Offshore #Decarbonisation

Transverse thrusters, like this 98-ton Wärtsilä unit, help ships move sideways with precision. They are also known as tunnel thrusters, bow thrusters or stern thrusters. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 🚢 Tunnel thrusters are installed in a ship's hull to generate lateral thrust to aid in manoeuvring, especially in confined spaces or during mooring and station-keeping. 🌬️ They create a side force by pushing water through a dedicated tunnel to one side of the vessel, producing a reaction force that moves the ship sideways. 🕹️ This specialised propulsion system provides enhanced control and reduces the need for tugboats, making complex port operations safer and more efficient. Wärtsilä transverse thrusters are available in a range from 400 kW to 5500 kW for applications in various types of ships, including merchant, cruise, offshore support, and offshore construction vessels. #Propulsion #MarineEngineering #Wärtsilä
