Apple's software engineers are testing iOS 18.6.2, according to the MacRumors visitor logs, which have been a reliable indicator of upcoming iOS versions.

Yesterday, an anonymous source with a proven track record said iOS 18.6.2 was incoming, but the update was not present in our logs at that time.

Last year, the same anonymous source claimed that iOS 17.5.2 was in the pipeline, but Apple ended up releasing a revised iOS 17.5.1 build for the iPad 10. Accordingly, the source said it was possible that iOS 18.6.2 might end up being a revised build of iOS 18.6.1, but our logs suggest that Apple is indeed planning to release iOS 18.6.2.

iOS 18.6.2 will likely include bug fixes and/or security patches, and perhaps some additional enhancements to the redesigned Blood Oxygen feature introduced on select Apple Watch models in the U.S. with iOS 18.6.1 and watchOS 11.6.1 last week. The update will have a build number of 22G100, according to the anonymous source.

iOS 18.6.1's build number is 22G90.

iOS 18.6.2 should be released soon — likely this week or next week — given that evidence of the update is now showing up in multiple places.

this update will finally give IOS a real system wide graphic EQ and it will even remember your settings for each Bluetooth audio device.... oh, wait, no it won't... LOL. Maybe IOS 74.1

I still think Apple will release an iOS 18.7 at the same time iOS 26.0 releases. That way, we still get bug fixes for don't need to update to the potentially buggy first release of iOS 26.x.

True, but in the case of iOS 18.6.1, there were no security/privacy updates. The SpO2 update could have waited.

It could have. But it's best Apple released it when it did for those who have been anxiously waiting for the SpO2 feature.

And then release 18.6.2 when it's ready. Not a big deal, as updates take just a few minutes.

No it isn't. It been 1 week. No one is dying because they can't monitor their O2 levels with their AW and Apple's never released anything early because people are anxious. You were wrong about 18.6.1...no need to keep conjuring up reasons to be right.

Nope. Please relax.

It could have been 1 day or 10 days between iOS updates. And that's fine. Life goes on. Planet Earth will continue to revolve into the Sun's rays tomorrow.

Alternate take: You don't care, but others were VERY happy to see this functionality restored. If this costs you a little time installing two updates in as many weeks, that's a price I'm completely fine with you paying.

Spot-on. It seems some people like to make a huge deal out of something that's relatively mice-nuts.

I was happy to download it as soon as it came out. Spending a couple minutes in the near future to install 18.6.2 isn't a biggie to get worked up about.

Why didn't they just wait with 18.6.1? These endless updates are rediculous.
It may be that they discovered some bugs in 18.6.1 that needed to be fixed quickly. I ran into a problem with my 14 Pro, as soon as I applied 18.6.1 Face ID stopped working. Checking the Apple Community forums others have gotten bit by this as well.

In my case, turning off Stolen Device Protection (did nothing else) got Face ID working again. I have turned Stolen Device Protection back on and Face ID still works okay. Odd bug.

As someone who has sleep apnea and uses a bipap machine nightly, it's a very useful thing for me. Missed the functionality in my series 7, glad to have it back in my Ultra 2.

Some people just aren't happy unless they have a cause to complain about...

Think it will be releasing soon as it will be a bug fixing update. Don't think there will be any difference especially for users outside US.
