SHS - Stahl-Holding-Saar GmbH & Co. KGaA, a major German steel manufacturer, has raised a EUR1.7 billion debt package to finance its Power4Steel project. Power4Steel is one of Europe’s largest decarbonisation initiatives. With a total investment of EUR4.6 billion, it encompasses the construction of a new direct reduced iron plant and two electric arc furnaces, and aims to support the decarbonisation of the steel industry in Germany’s Saarland region. The project aims to reduce SHS’ carbon emissions by 55% by 2030. Fully climate-neutral production is envisaged by the company by 2045. BNP Paribas and BGL BNP Paribas acted as Bookrunner and Mandated Lead Arranger. The financing underscores the Bank’s commitment to support the low-carbon transition of its clients across all sectors of the economy through its #BNPPLowCarbonTransition and #BNPPRealAssets teams. For over 100 years, BNP Paribas has been supporting cinema and those who imagine the world of tomorrow through the seventh art. With Imaginaries of Tomorrow, BNP Paribas extended this commitment by exploring the power of storytelling and imagination to open new spaces for reflection and inspire change. The event, introduced by antoine sire, began with the screening of Journeys to Sustainability, two short documentaries directed by Craig Leeson in collaboration with BNP Paribas CIB, highlighting tangible sustainability solutions with Lefdal Mine Data Centers and Coats, two companies supported by the Group. It continued with an original animation supported by BNP Paribas, created by Wiizmane B, creatively raising awareness about digital overconsumption and the importance of reuse. Finally, a panel discussion, moderated by Leslie Coutterand, brought together Marion Séclin, Craig Leeson, Wiizmane, and Diane Cesbron our General Director of Cinécapital, to explore how stories and imagination can help us rethink our relationship with the world.
