Quelle belle illustration de l’agroécologie en mouvement avec l’atelier de clôture du projet ASSET à Điện Biên! “Agroecology is about reconnecting people – to their land, to their food, and to each other.” #Agroecology #SafeFood #SoutheastAsia #Partenariats
🌾 Agroecology in Action: The ASSET Final Workshop in Điện Biên 🌾 Together with VAAS (Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE), CIRAD and Gret co-organized the Final Workshop for Vietnam 🇻🇳 of the ASSET Project – Agroecology and Safe Food System Transitions in Southeast Asia – held this week in Điện Biên, Vietnam. Over the past five years, ASSET has embodied a remarkable collective journey – linking science, practice, and policy across Vietnam, Laos 🇱🇦 , and Cambodia 🇰🇭. The project demonstrated how #agroecology can transform food systems, empower rural communities, and strengthen resilience in the face of climate and market challenges. It was an honour and a pleasure for me to deliver the opening remarks on behalf of CIRAD, as Scientific Coordinator of the ASSET project. The workshop showcased inspiring results: from forage and compost innovations to safe food value chains, digital markets, and territorial branding initiatives that connect farmers, consumers, and local authorities. This success was made possible thanks to the dedication and partnership of: 🤝 VAAS and the MAE and several of their institutes 🤝 Provincial authorities of Điện Biên and Sơn La 🤝 International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) , CIAT (Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. With the support of the European Union , AFD - Agence Française de Développement, and Fonds français pour l'environnement mondial (FFEM). “Agroecology is about reconnecting people – to their land, to their food, and to each other.” ASSET’s legacy now continues through ALiSEA, Vietnam’s National Action Plan on Food Systems Transformation, and the The ASEAN Secretariat Guidelines on Agroecology — turning research into action for sustainable and inclusive food systems in Southeast Asia. 🌱 CIRAD in Continental Southeast Asia DP ASEA #dP_MALICA
