This week, we joined forces with the United Nations and regional business leaders to deliver a clear message: Gaza’s recovery depends on stronger private sector integration. At a high-level dialogue that we co-hosted with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), ICC Secretary General John W.H. Denton AO urged practical business engagement to complement humanitarian efforts and build lasting stability. Our dynamic and extensive global network is mobilised to help local #SMEs and #ChambersOfCommerce to re-engage in cross-border trade, establish the right conditions for investment, and rebuild the foundations of economic opportunity. This effort builds on our partnership with Palestine Emerging and recent discussions at Wilton Park, advancing a shared goal to make business a driving force for peace and prosperity. There’s a growing gap in climate adaptation—and a clear opportunity to close it. Public funding alone can’t meet the scale of the challenge. Smart policy and strategic collaboration are essential to unlock private sector action. At #COP30, we will urge governments to: 🔹 Strengthen climate risk information and transparency 🔹 Establish enabling institutions and regulatory incentives 🔹 Scale adaptation finance with innovative instruments Learn how to scale private finance for adaptation: https://bit.ly/45lVYKa

If climate ambition doesn’t turn into action in Belém, when will it? With the world’s largest climate conference on the horizon, Team ICC brought the voice of global business to the final high-level climate discussions with ministers in Brasília — setting out key priorities for a successful COP30 this November. At the Pre-COP Ministerial, we delivered a clear message: real climate progress demands governments and businesses work together to accelerate climate finance, enable investment, and scale solutions for a 1.5°C future. This year in Belém, #COP30 must be the COP of implementation, cooperation, and real public–private collaboration. Meanwhile, ICC Brasil rallied business leaders, experts, and government authorities to seize this once-in-a-generation opportunity to rewrite the climate playbook. This week in Rome, I had the honour of delivering a keynote speech at the 2025 FAO Hand-in-Hand Initiative Investment Forum. As FAO celebrates its 80th anniversary, I congratulated Director-General Dr QU Dongyu and his organisation on eight decades of service, progress, and hope. I also commended the renewal of the FAO–ICC collaboration agreement. Through the #ICCAgriFoodInitiative, this year we brought to the Forum ICC member companies from Argentina, Georgia, Ghana, Italy, Morocco, Paraguay, Syria, Switzerland, the United States. This is a strong signal that the private sector is ready to forge effective public-private partnerships that drive sustainable growth, resilience, and opportunity. We were also delighted to co-host the first-ever FAO-ICC Networking Reception, supported by WBCSD and the Chefs’ Manifesto. This new format brought together CEOs, government leaders, and development finance institutions in an informal setting fostering the human connections that underpin trust and effective collaboration. While in Rome, I engaged in meaningful discussions with Ms Pieternel Boogaard (International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)), and Ms Rania Dagash-Kamara (World Food Programme) on how to further embed private sector engagement in agri-food projects.

This week, we joined governments, businesses, and civil society at the Wilton Park high-level dialogue — co-hosted by the UK Government, the Palestinian Authority, and the Government of Egypt — to explore how private sector investment can help drive Gaza’s reconstruction. Drawing on lessons from our work in Ukraine, we highlighted how strong dispute resolution, export finance partnerships, and local private sector engagement can provide the confidence and stability needed to rebuild. Insights from this dialogue will inform the Cairo International Conference on Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development of Gaza this November, paving the way for tangible frameworks that can turn recovery into long-term peace and prosperity. 🚨 The world’s busiest trade corridor, the Singapore Strait, has seen its highest maritime crime levels since 1991. In the first nine months of 2025, 116 incidents were reported. That’s a 47% increase compared to last year. 73 of these took place in the Singapore Strait, with weapons involved in 61% of cases, putting crews and cargo at heightened risk. Trade security begins offshore. Ensuring safe seas is critical to keeping #globaltrade flowing smoothly.
