  • Our CEO Muriel Lienau recently travelled to Egypt, meeting the team on the ground as well as visiting our water regeneration projects, which form part of our wider water stewardship approach. Read her takeaways below ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eZp9_PN5

Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages

I’m always inspired by visiting our markets, and my recent trip to Egypt was particularly special as I saw first-hand the remarkable impact of the water regeneration projects being led by our Benha factory and our local leadership and water resource management team.  Collaboration is fundamental for good water stewardship and together with the local community, experts, partners and authorities, the team has been working to rehabilitate the El-Seniti Canal by cleaning pollution, reducing leaks and enhancing irrigation efficiency. Their work with local farmers to adopt drip irrigation is helping to conserve water, and improve crop quality, yield and profitability. The renovation of the village water station and pipe network means 30,000 residents have access to clean running water. When the initiative first began, Covid restrictions meant I was only able to view it through drone footage. Five years on, it was a proud moment to meet the local factory team, see their close connection with the village community and learn more about how this important work is improving quality of life and outcomes for local people. It's an impressive example of how we are delivering our global water regeneration commitment and building business resilience by caring for water around our sites and being a force for good within our communities. Additionally, the talented local team continues to build strong relevance for Nestlé Pure Life; a brand that represents care and quality. We are proud to be the trusted hydration partner for millions of Egyptian families seeking safe and clean water.    Congratulations and thank you to Yasmine El-Fiqi and the wider Nestlé Waters Egyptian team for your warm reception and exceptional efforts.

  • Collaboration with local communities for collective action is one of the core drivers of our sustainability strategy. This was clearly demonstrated recently by our colleagues in Thailand, who came together with the Klong Khanom Jeen community in Ayutthaya for a Nestlé Cares for Water project volunteering day. Together, they spent the day cleaning up waste and invasive plants, planting trees along the canal's banks, and releasing 25,000 fish to help restore the canal’s biodiversity. This hands-on effort is part of our ongoing restoration project for the Khanom Chin canal, executed with the local community and partners including WWF Thailand, that has helped to restore aquatic life, improve local livelihoods, and has become one of Thailand’s first Other Effective area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) pilot projects. This project is a flagship example of our water stewardship commitment in action, showing how we take a localised approach to solving global water challenges and caring for our watersheds. The project marks its 10th year anniversary in 2025 and as we reach this milestone, we are proud that it has also been shortlisted for the Reuters Events Sustainable Business Global Sustainability Awards in two categories: Biodiversity Champion and SDG Pioneer. Congratulations to our colleagues and our partners for this Global recognition of the tremendous ongoing impact of your work. Stay tuned as we look ahead to the final award ceremony on October 22nd.   #Biodiversity #CommunityImpact #ReutersSustainabilityAwards

  • Caring for water by protecting and regenerating water resources is at the core of the Nestlé Waters & Premium Beverages business.     Recently, our Gruppo Sanpellegrino team marked a new milestone in our water regeneration journey, breaking ground on a new water management facility for the Sorgente Nossana, the most important source in the Province of Bergamo and one of the largest in Lombardy, Italy.    With an investment of €11 million, this project will:  ⛈️ Ensure a constant supply of high-quality water to over 315,000 people, even during extreme weather events  💧 Reduce reliance on supplementary groundwater wells  💪 Strengthen local resilience against climate change impacts    Once completed in 2026, the facility will be donated to Uniacque - Servizio idrico integrato, benefiting the entire community. This initiative is part of our water stewardship program launched in 2020, aimed at protecting watersheds and biodiversity, partnering with local communities and developing innovative solutions for sustainable water management     #WaterStewardship #Sustainability #CommunityImpact #Sanpellegrino

Head of Water Stewardship, Stakeholder Engagement and CSV

A few thoughts after @SIWI's #WorldWaterWeek2025 conference in Stockholm, where the focused #WaterLogues discussion groups proved again to be a powerful way to bring diverse perspectives together ➡️    💧This year’s theme, Water for Climate Action, resonated strongly, with much of the conversation centred on the topics of risk mitigation, resilience, and collective action, which are becoming a shared "North Star". But let's not overlook the important efforts made in water replenishment too.   💧 Collective action isn't possible without the strong foundations of robust work at site level and fruitful relationship-building with stakeholders. This approach takes time to build and even if it doesn't always bring transformation at catchment level, it strengthens trust between water users and fosters greater collaboration in addressing shared water challenges. At Nestle Waters & Premium Beverages, we have always seen water stewardship as a journey, and we see these essential steps as key enablers of catchment and business resilience.     💧 Robust global measurement frameworks are essential for comprehensive action.  I believe The Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) standard is an excellent independent framework and we've committed to getting all our sites AWS-certified by the end of the year. A few years ago, the sector aligned on Volumetric Water Benefit Accounting (VWBA) as the reference for measuring how we “replenish” sites, and currently more than 80% of our sites are already delivering Volumetric Water Benefits. Now we need the same level of consensus and scientific methodology for measuring watershed health, with clear definitions, rules, and indicators.   Thank you to the organisers for creating the space for these important conversations. Great progress were made, and there is plenty of great work to come 🌱 The 2026 UN Water Conference gives us a milestone to align and bring bold proposals to the table that push the Water topic and deliver impact at scale.    #WorldWaterWeek2025 #WaterStewardship #AWS #VWBA #Sustainability #WaterRegeneration #BusinessResilience Alexis Morgan, Rylan Dobson, Gregg Brill, James Dalton, Todd Reeve, Paul Reig, Scott McCready, Adrian Sym, Jonathan Sottas, François Negro, Cédric EGGER, Assaad SAADEH Sian Chapman Sandra JULIA Camille Dessimond Achim Drewes

  • Did you know that we have more than 70 water regeneration and biodiversity projects across 20 countries? One of these is a partnership with the First Milk dairy co‑operative in Pembrokeshire, Wales, where we bottle Princes Gate Water and Nestlé Pure Life waters. Our team in Pembrokeshire, Wales, where we bottle Princes Gate Water and Nestlé Pure Life waters, is collaborating with the First Milk dairy co‑operative to address a critical but often overlooked challenge for groundwater: soil health.  Healthy soil functions like a sponge, allowing rainwater to infiltrate and recharge underground reserves. This project aims to work with up to 30 local farms to promote regenerative agriculture practices to help reduce soil compaction and improve water infiltration.     The projected impact is significant and includes the potential to improve local aquifer’s recharge by 250 million litres of groundwater every year.  By starting with the soil, we are helping to secure the resilience of local water systems, support farmers, and ultimately our business.       I am proud of our UK team, including Stefano Bolognese, Matthew Faulkner, Philippa Naylor, Abigail Meyrick, Daniel Chick, Emma Evans, and many more. #WorldWaterWeek2025 #WaterStewardship #Sustainability #SharedValue #Agriculture
