Day 2 at the World URE Forum looked at two big questions: how to deliver eye care at scale, and how brands and purpose can help drive change.
The day opened with Dr. Nicola Lister, who stressed that technology can be a bridge to equity in healthcare. She highlighted the need for trust, accountability, and alignment with government priorities — and called for progress that is measured, ethical, and scalable.
In Why Scale is the Only Sustainable Strategy, speakers from government, NGOs, and EssilorLuxottica agreed that accessibility and availability are key. They pointed to tools like local vision centres and digital systems as essential to reach more people and ensure continuity of care.
The final panel, Bringing Private-Sector Ideas to Public Health, showed how purpose-driven branding can inspire action. People want solutions that are available, affordable, and attractive — and brands, when driven by purpose, can help shift behaviours and raise awareness.
Tomorrow, sessions will spotlight policy change, the economic impact of eye health, the power of data, and a closing declaration to drive collective action.
