Did you know that 36% of people spend less than 20 minutes researching where to get their puppies from? That’s less time than we take to decide on a food delivery! Unfortunately this impulsive approach to buying is fueling the growth of low-welfare breeders and sellers online, allowing unethical practices to thrive. With pet ownership on the rise globally, it’s more important than ever to recognize and support responsible breeders. Unregulated, low-welfare practices are increasing, putting animal welfare at risk through poor breeding conditions and extreme conformations. That’s why Royal Canin has partnered with leading organisations - including Fédération Cynologique Internationale, FOUR PAWS, International Collaborative on Extreme Conformations in Dogs, Royal Veterinary College, and WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association). Together, we’ve formed the Choose Health Coalition, united by our commitment to prioritizing the health and welfare of cats and dogs. Today, we’re proud to share our first Baseline Report, which highlights why responsible, regulated breeding practices are more important than ever. The report offers data, insights, and our long-term objectives—all aimed at ensuring better health and welfare for future generations of pets, in line with our Purpose: A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS. Turning waste into growth!   Did you know that the organic waste at our Royal Canin Campus - from leftovers in our restaurant to unused kibbles - is transformed into high-quality fertilizer for plants?   With the help of our worm friends and beneficial bacteria, we compost in a way that not only reduces waste but also improves soil health, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, and supports a circular, local bioeconomy.   Recently, our R&D team conducted scientific experiments to identify the most effective way to compost organic pet industry waste. They discovered that digesting a mixture of waste kibble and wood fiber (used organic cat litter) with forest microorganisms offered an ideal food for composting worms, resulting in a highly nutritive soil amendment. These findings were recently published in ScienceDirect: https://lnkd.in/djWniaWq.   This research shows that with the right mix of science and nature, we can turn waste into a valuable resource - taking a big step toward a better world for pets, people, and the planet. From clinical breakthroughs to unforgettable conversations - September was all about connecting, learning, and shaping the future of pet health together. In Maastricht, at the European Congress of Veterinary Internal Medicine for Companion Animals (ECVIM-CA Congress), we shared new insights from our latest clinical trial on innovative approaches to feline diabetes. In Bilbao, at the European Society of Veterinary Dermatology Congress (ESVD-ECVD), we unveiled fresh research on hypoallergenic multi-benefit diets. But what made these congresses truly special wasn’t just the science. It was the energy of the global veterinary community - the exchange of ideas, the curiosity, and the passion for improving pets’ lives worldwide. One of our favorite moments? Hosting a dinner for young graduates and veterinary residents invited by our teams. Seeing the next generation of veterinary leaders connect, collaborate, and dream big was inspiring and a true honor for us. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thanks to our local teams in Spain and the Netherlands for their great support! Your contribution turned these events into catalysts for innovation and community. #RoyalCanin #ABetterWorldForPets #VeterinaryMedicine

Every adoption is more than a rescue; it’s the start of a shared journey that enriches both lives. This #MarsGlobalAdoptionWeekend (October 3-5), Mars is hosting adoption events in more than 20 countries to help millions of cats and dogs in shelters find loving homes. Together with Calm and actor Shailene Woodley - a proud rescue cat mum - the campaign celebrates the bond between people and pets and demonstrates how adopting a pet is an act that improves two lives – the pet’s and the pet owner’s. Whether you volunteer, attend a local event or simply share this message, you’re helping more pets find their forever families - and more people experience the joy and wellbeing that only pets can bring. Where science meets innovation in pet nutrition, that’s where we are! Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of connecting with leading experts in veterinary nutrition at the ESVCN (European Society of Veterinary Comparative Nutrition) annual conference in Leipzig, Germany, participating in discussions shaping the future of companion animal nutrition. For the first time at a scientific congress, we shared exciting new findings of collaborative research with Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen and the Royal Veterinary College, led by our Weight Research Senior Scientist, Dr. John Flanagan, on controlled caloric restriction in overweight, insulin-treated diabetic cats. These findings were presented by our collaborator Prof. C.R. Bjørnvad, and highlight our long-term commitment to advancing scientific knowledge to help pets achieve and maintain a healthy weight. As a Gold Sponsor since 2023, we were also proud to support the attendance of 10 young veterinarians and host a gathering for these professionals, nutrition residents, and members of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Leipzig - a great opportunity to exchange ideas and explore the latest scientific developments in the field.   A big thank-you to everyone at both ESVCN and Royal Canin! Our commitment to science continues to guide everything we do, driving innovations that serve our Purpose: A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS. #RoyalCanin #ESVCN #Science
