Really proud to see Birl featured in UEFA’s updated Circular Economy Guidelines which launched yesterday ⚽🌍 These guidelines are a cornerstone of the UEFA Football Sustainability Strategy 2030 and mark a major step forward with the new 4R framework: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover. Great to step into the learning zone today at Chez Hirst for our Masterclass with Eduardo Briceño, author of The Performance Paradox. 🙌 Some key insights that resonated: ✅ Not all mistakes are created equal — some spark insight and growth, while others are better avoided. What matters is how intentionally we learn from them. ✅ The Performance Paradox — when we focus only on performing, our performance plateaus. Long-term growth comes from balancing the performance zone (executing at our best) with the learning zone (experimenting, stretching, and reflecting). ✅ Leaders shape culture — drawing on examples like Microsoft under Satya Nadella, Eduardo showed how leaders role-model learning, build psychological safety, and create systems that make experimentation and improvement part of the everyday. ✅ Learning while doing — growth isn’t separate from performance. It happens when we embed reflection, feedback, and iteration into how we work. I left inspired to help foster an environment where our team and community don’t just perform well, yet also have the space to grow while they perform for the long term. Building Poppins: With Experience, Humility, and Pragmatism I often describe our team as a powerful mix: people who’ve already cracked hyperlocal business models (Too Good To Go - Lucie Basch Jonas Mallisse Franco Prontera), engineers who’ve built and scaled - and accompanied the growth of - marketplaces (BlaBlaCar, Back Market, Amazon, Mano Mano - Antoine Henning Antoine Rey Florian Lonqueu-Brochard), and entrepreneurs - five of us have already started companies before. This collective experience gives us a strong sense of what’s coming next. 👨🚀 ✨ Our background keeps us humble. We understand what’s ahead, yet we focus on proving it one step at a time. At every stage, we know how important it is to experiment, learn fast, challenge our assumptions, and listen closely to our users. Every piece of user feedback is gold to us (Charlotte Bar — 🇫🇷🇬🇧🇪🇸 Alex Waza). Combined with our data-driven mindset, it allows us to refine the Poppins' journey. On the engineering side, I’m especially proud to work with a team of true problem solvers, all former staff+ level engineers in their previous roles. France is about to force millions of businesses into software. Not politely. Not gradually. By law. 📑 Starting in 2026, every French business — from the corner café to the design studio — will have to issue and receive invoices in a standard digital format. Each invoice will go automatically to the customer and to the tax authorities for VAT reporting. Think about all those shoeboxes full of receipts. The envelopes stuffed with slips. The PDFs buried in inboxes. A whole way of working disappears overnight. What a relief. 😮💨 For freelancers, maybe it’s just one less pile of paper on the desk. But for B2B companies, it changes everything. Because once invoices live in software, payments naturally follow. Reconciliation follows. Cash flow follows. Suddenly, accounting software isn’t just admin — it becomes the default financial hub. That’s why this will be a fierce battle for software companies. Everyone wants to be the tool SMBs pick for compliance. Because once you win invoicing, you can win everything else. But let’s be honest: there won’t be just one winner. SMBs are too diverse, too fragmented. There’s room for many players to succeed and they will. One regulation. Huge consequences. And…🍿 yes, a little drama. P.S.
