At UM6P, Prof. Mourad NACHTANE (PhD, HDR) and his team have developed an AI-based tool that enables real-time design optimization of high-pressure hydrogen tanks. It was a pleasure to meet Professor Emeritus David Bourell from The University of Texas at Austin, a respected pioneer in Additive Manufacturing. We are honoured that Dave generously contributed the Foreword to our new book, "Additive Manufacturing Teaching and Training Case Studies – Education Strategies for Additive Manufacturing," published this month by Springer Nature (https://shorturl.at/bS4p6) (September 2025). It describes the theory and the tools used to simulate turbulent combustion.  The course is based on the textbook “Theoretical and numerical combustion” by Poinsot and Veynante (Electronic version here or paper version on Amazon here).  The participation requires two to three hours per week online. No a priori knowledge of combustion is needed but participants should have a minimum experience in fluid mechanics and/or CFD. A live session with all participants will take place at the beginning of the course to get to know each other and another live session will conclude the course to answer questions raised during the six weeks of formation and discuss the last news on hydrogen flames. Extremely cool work by researchers at Ecole normale supérieure and Meta on understanding the representational similarity between human brains and AI models! More specifically, they trained DINOv3 self-supervised vision transformers of different sizes, with different training amounts, and different image types, and compare their representations to that of the human brain recorded with fMRI MEG. They found that size matters (largest models with the most human-centric images had the highest brain similarity scores), and during training the models first aligned with early representations of sensory cortices followed by alignment with late and prefrontal representations with a lot more training data.
