HYDROGEN HARVESTED FROM DIRTY SOURCES
ABSTRACT
Development of environmental biotechnology for #medical waste MW management, where MW refers to all those materials produced by the interaction between doctors & patients, such as blood & saliva that could contribute to the energy requirements of a consulting room. MW consists of material not easily employable for energy production, except blood & saliva, containing glucose which, on the contrary, can be exploited in producing energy. A suitable electrochemical device is necessary like an enzymatic fuel cell EFC that requires a substrate to be oxidized like glucose, considered as a primary energy resource inside dentistry special waste.
INSIGHTS
BIOTECHNOLOGY as application of organisms, cells, or molecular analogues for MW management. #BIOREMEDIATION is a promising method used to treat medical waste contaminated with hazardous chemicals, utilizing living things to degrade environmental toxins. Recycled carbon fiber mats could produce hydrogen from wastewater. The technic is the MICROBIAL ELECTROLYSIS CELLS, using electromagnetic microorganisms to break down organic pollutants in wastewater, producing clean water & #hydrogen gas, removing pathogens. Biological fuel cells, through the direct conversion of organic matter to electricity using biocatalysts, represent a technology able to produce sustainable energy. GASIFICATION, a technique of burning trash, in the absence of oxygen, at high temperatures producing steam & heat. #COMPOSTING involves the microbial breakdown of organic waste products to create a nutrient-rich agriculture & gardening soil amendment & in MW include food #waste from hospitals, as well as outdated pharmaceuticals & other organic waste products. #SEWAGE SLUDGE & MW TO ENERGY, a sustainable process synthesis via surrogate-based superstructure optimization. The integration of waste #plasma #gasification, CCU, & fuel production. There is potential means to generate energy from blood & saliva, that are common risk-infectious medical waste, employing glucose oxidase GOx, among others. Producing an EFC, which could produce energy from the blood & the saliva with in medical-dental waste. GENETIC ENGINEERING utilizes microorganisms to transform contaminants into non-toxic chemicals, like biodegradation of PET, a common #plastic used in medical equipment. #netzero #sgds #climatechange #wastewater #wastemanagement
