  • Yesterday we welcomed our friends from the World Economic Forum and public sector leaders from around the world to our New York City office, for a deep dive on #AgenticAI.    How we see it: 👉 Through their ability to perceive, reason, and act autonomously to achieve defined outcomes, AI agents fundamentally expand what government can accomplish.    👉  Agentic AI can facilitate superior experiences for citizens and employees, and public sector efficiency, contributing to the $9.8 trillion potential for public impact in the coming decade that we identified in our recent research.    👉 However, careful analysis is needed to identify fields of application that bring the most value. Success depends on many factors, especially the quality and availability of data, ethical frameworks to maintain public trust, and a transformation in leadership and skills.    🫵 Where to start? Identifying the use cases with highest potential, and focus on data management and governance to lay the groundwork for automation.    To progress #AgenticAI from discussion to action, we are proud to be collaborating with the WEF on an analysis of core government tasks, to pinpoint where AI agents can deliver the greatest impact. Stay tuned for the findings of research.     Dr. Hinrich Thölken | Marc Reinhardt Philipp Fuerst, PhD | Debarati Ganguly   #GovTech #PublicSector #Government

  • How can digital infrastructure support Europe's energy transition? Germany aims to add 10,000 megawatts of new wind energy annually by 2030. With road capacity strained by the transport of large wind turbine components, BAW (The Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute) needed a scalable, sustainable alternative. In partnership with our team at Capgemini Invent, they launched a centralized, open-data platform to optimize heavy-duty logistics waterway players with: ✅ Standardized, quality-assured data for better planning ✅ Up-to-date information across dozens of ports ✅ Integration with systems like ELWIS & VEMAGS for seamless multimodal transport. The result will be faster access to reliable data, fewer road bottlenecks, and a strategic push toward multimodal transport. • Partnering closely with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), we developed a mobile application that enables seamless, 24/7 engagement between HMRC and its customers. Accessibility was a core focus throughout the project. Our dedicated accessibility champions conducted regular assessments during development, driving continuous improvements. This led to the creation of a custom component library designed with accessibility at its heart. From day one, the app included features such as screen reader compatibility and voice-over support. It also followed the Government Digital Service (GDS) design principles, ensuring a consistent and familiar user experience across platforms—right down to naming conventions, structure, and visual design. As a result, the HMRC app is instantly recognizable as an official UK Government digital product, helping users feel confident and secure during their interactions. This project stands as a strong example of how collaborative innovation can lead to inclusive, user-centric solutions that strengthen the connection between government and citizens. • In July, the Capgemini Defra Client Account partnered with Pollenize CIC to deliver a BioBlitz Day in a London green space combining ecological data collection with the wellbeing benefits of time spent in nature. Using the iNaturalist Classic app, volunteers from Capgemini and Defra recorded hundreds of insect and plant sightings, contributing to global biodiversity data and supporting pollinator health. The event builds on our long-standing collaboration with Pollenize, which began with the Tech4Positive Futures initiative and led to innovations like the NestSweeper app and QR-coded wildflower seed packets. “It was fantastic to see colleagues come together through a shared commitment to social value whilst using technology in a meaningful way.” Rosanna Boxall, Defra Client Sustainability Community Lead This is a brilliant example of purpose-driven teamwork and strategic alignment with the Defra Client Account’s Sustainable Delivery Charter. • Collaborating closely with HM Revenue and Customs, we have developed a mobile app through which HMRC and its customers can engage 24/7. Accessibility has been a central thread running throughout this project. Our accessibility champions regularly assessed the app during development, helping to drive improvements. This led to the creation of a custom component library that prioritized accessibility in design and evolution. From the outset, the app incorporated accessibility features like screen readers and voice-over functionalities. It also incorporated a recognizable look-and-feel based on Government Digital Service (GDS) guidance, ensuring consistency in terms of naming, structure, and design across platforms. As a result, the HMRC app was instantly identifiable as a UK Government digital product, allowing customers to feel secure and reassured during their transactions. The HMRC mobile app is a great example of how collaboration can yield creative innovations to drive new and inclusive ways of engagement between government and citizens. • What can public agencies learn from the city of Tampere’s journey towards artificial intelligence (AI)? With a strong heritage in manufacturing and innovation, this Finnish city is building the foundations of AI governance in a systematic and strategic approach to AI adoption. Collaborating with colleagues in our Sogeti business unit, Tampere has taken the opportunity to explore the potential of generative AI and pilot its use internally before implementing services for residents and businesses. This sets the city apart from many other organizations that rush into AI without a clear plan. To this end, we have developed several AI solutions now being piloted by the city as it continues to focus on building a sustainable and strategic infrastructure that’s geared towards long-term success. Tampere’s director of digital transformation Aleksi Kopponen is a clear advocate of this measured approach, saying: “We can’t just focus on the exciting parts; we need to get the basics right. That’s why we carefully prepare and prioritize building a solid foundation first.” Find out more: https://bit.ly/45Ryyf0 #PublicServices #PublicSector
