  • MTR Corp Ltd

    - Present

    MTRCL (SEHK: 0066) owns and runs all the railway systems in Hong Kong, as well as manage rapid-transit systems in London, Stockholm, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Melbourne. Participated in several of MTR’s mission critical application development projects; particularly those that involve AI and optimization. One of the projects was to create an IT system to optimize the scheduling of all engineering works at MTR lines and has been in use for close to a decade. Assisting MTR in extending the system…

The system ensures all lines are well maintained, keeping trains running smoothly and 99% on time each and every day for millions of railway users.

  • Hong Kong Immigration Department

    -

    Acted as the technology architect behind the “e-Brain system” that provides intelligent AI decision support to process millions of application forms submitted to the Immigration Department each year, including forms for e-passport, foreign domestic helper, right of adobe, birth/death/marriage certificates, etc. This AI system was part of a huge electronic records project called Application and Investigation Easy System (APPLIES) that greatly streamlined processing and shortened waiting time.

  • Environmental Protection Department

    Hong Kong Government’s Environmental Protection Department (EPD) is responsible for assessing the environmental impact of any public works projects. To facilitate and streamline the research work needed to create these reports, papers, and policies, I helped EPD create an advanced text-mining and information retrieval system to search their document archive, customized to recognize environmental protection related content.

    Provided consultancy service to CAI Business Indepth (CBID) on the use of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) technology to help maximize the online exposure to their publications. CAI is a multimedia business venture owned by Richard Li Tzar Kai, positioning itself to be "the Bloomberg of the East."

    Swire Travel is one of the largest travel management companies in this region. Acted as an IT consultant to their Airport Limousine Services subsidiary on how to use AI technology to optimize and streamline their operations.

  • Hong Kong Airport Authority

    Designed and created the secondary Stand Allocation System for the Chek Lap Kok International Airport. Used in the ramp control tower, it manages all gates and stands at the airport, for over a decade.

    In preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, a trial event called Good Luck Beijing Games was held in July 2007. Designed a Web-based system for the Hong Kong Equestrian Events to manage and schedule over a thousand staff and volunteers for that event.

    The Hospital Authority manages over 40 public hospitals and over a hundred clinics in Hong Kong. Created an advanced Staff Rostering System to manage over 50,000 staff and nurses. The system has been in use for well over a decade.

    HACTL is one of the leading air cargo terminal operators in the world. Provided advice to HACTL on the use of advanced optimization technology within their next-generation resource allocation system to help streamline operation and maximize efficiency.

  • Modern Terminals Ltd

    MTL is the second largest container terminal operator in Hong Kong. Provided advice on the use of AI technology to optimize and streamline container terminal operations, such as berth allocation and staff rostering.

  • Kowloon Motor Bus Company

    KMB is one of the largest privately owned public bus operators in the world with 4,000 buses and 400 routes. Advised KMB on how to take advantage of AI technology to optimize bus scheduling and timetabling.

  • Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department

    -

    Kai Tak Airport was overcrowded and aging. In order to accommodate more flights, I created a mission critical AI application to allocate and manage all the check-in counters at the Kai Tak Airport. The system allowed the airport to maximize the use of its resources prior to the operation of the new airport. Because of the system, Kai Tak Airport was able to handle an additional 9,000 flights in 1996 and over 6,000 more in 1997.

  • Hong Kong International Terminals

    HIT is the largest container terminal operator in Hong Kong. Designed and created a mission critical rostering system to manage all the workers in the container terminal yard, supporting a new flexi-shift system that resulted in 30% improvement of productivity.

It aims to strengthen co-operation of the two places in promoting the development of cloud computing and formulation of relevant standards and practices.
